If, even with decent earphones the clarity of voices is poor there is not a lot you can do as it is probably the aeroplanes audio system. Those in cattle class will get the cheapest system and subsequent poor quality. It differs from airline to airline and sometimes from plane to plane. Moistening the plugs can sometimes help to improve the connection but a poor quality sound transmission will always sound poor.
