Soon I should be moving from Bangkok to Hua Hin.
I'll rent a small townhouse downtown.
In Bangkok my internet provider is 3 BB because that's the only one available in my building.
Can't say I'm very happy with their services, connection is many time not up to the speed I pay for and even after asking them many times to improve this problem, they still didn't fix this.
So wondering if I maybe should try another company ?
Anyone who can advice me here ?
As far asmy info is correct there is no internetconnection at this house at the moment, so I will have to arrange this.
I don't need very fast connection, but since I don't watch tele but the web on my computer instead,I need a decent speed.
Thanks for any advise !

Re: Internet provider
All depends on your location, all the providers are variable in terms of reliability and speed depending on where you are. I would ask your neighbours what they're using.

Thanks, good idea !
Re: Internet provider
Have a read of some of the posts in this section - as you can see from them people have problems with TOT, 3BB and True so there is no "best provider" really.

Re: Internet provider
The best I've had here is 3BB - it comes through the phone, can watch movies.

Thanks, will check them out and indeed ask in the hood about experiences...
Re: Internet provider
I want to increase my internet speed, at the moment I have 3BB's cheapest package but my annual contract finishes on Sunday. I have a leaflet from True that shows an offer of 30 Mbps + 101 TV channels + some phone stuff free minutes I think for 999 Baht (probably plus tax). I'm not interested in the TV channels, just the internet, anyone know the price for True's internet only packages ?
This offer may be fibre optic and not available everywhere and I have to go to Bkk in the next hour or so and not back until Sunday afternoon so no time to visit their shop to ask.
Thanks

Re: Internet provider
I currentlt have the True Internet + TV package, though I pay a little less... around 800bt for a 20Mbs connection. If the promotional litrature you have is for the same service I have, it's DOCIS (cable) internet, not fibre optic, so it's only available in the same areas they can supply cable TV. The TV channels are 'free'. You can't get a discount for not having them.

Re: Internet provider
Having been very disappointed with 3BB's 10 mb/s package, I now have a 20 mb/s package with TOT at c 800 bt per month which has worked very well for the 4 months or so that I've had it. Internet only.
This is the way
Re: Internet provider
Thought I would update on the package I selected.
3BB wanted 1,200 B to upgrade to 30 mbps so that was a non starter.
True had a 3 page leaflet with a myriad of packages and not easy to work out what you were getting for your money.
They have an internet only 30 Mbps at 1,299 per month with no annual contract.
However, if you take out an annual package, but still pay monthly I believe, ( I haven't paid anything yet!), for 799 B get 30 Mbps (this reduces to 18 Mbps after the year but of course you look what deals are available in 1 year), True Enjoy TV package which is 101 channels, (I've only looked at a few but all Thai so far), and I think 50 minutes mobile talk time every month (they give you a sim which I've put in my old phone but haven't tried it yet).
With the years subscription you get free router (which looks like and is the size of a space station), free set top box for the TV channels and free installation provided the outside connection point is no more than 70 metres from your house.
They installed mine yesterday, I had to pay for 30 metres of cable at 25 B per metre (living in a small secluded soi doesn't always have it's advantages) and it took about 1.5 hours to complete installation.
He connected his laptop with a lan cable to the router and did a speed test and it was over 50 Mbps. I did one from my laptop using wi-fi and got 31.4 download and 3.31 upload.
The prices above exclude the 7% tax so mine is 855 Baht per month.
My main reason for upgrade is that I already have a non subscription set top box (Minix) which has loads of free apps for movies, TV shows, BBC, ITV, SKY, BT sports etc but not CTH for EPL.
However I know of other users who have an app called Ilikehd but it is a subscription app albeit very cheap but is a streaming site. There are many different packages for UK TV, movies, sports etc and one advantage is you only have to pay for what you want so you can have the full package for a month then next month only pay for sports or movies etc. It also allows you hourly trials at around 50 Baht to test it.
I've chosen the World Sports package which gets you CTH and around 100 other sports channels I believe (I only installed at around 4 pm last night) for 250 Baht per month.
I watched 3 games last night with no buffering at all, perfect picture, English commentary. In the Chelsea game it momentarily froze twice so I had to press back button and open again which took about 5 seconds. Other users on the Minix box support forum all sing it's praises for TV movies etc but I don't need to pay for those.

Re: Internet providers in Hua Hin
I had 3BB 10MbPS DSL... It worked but too slow for me with the number of users on the WiFi at some times... We upped it to their Fiber setup and we see 70+MBPS n speed test... Also even with a house full of users on the WiFi and me streaming movies from the USA all works very well... The only time a see a significant load on the speed is using my VPN router, but again this is very much improved with the fiber... We pay 1200B monthly and worth every Baht to me!!!
