Well AppleTalk has been gone for a long time now.

But, you're right; if you want a machine that sticks to time-worn standards, don't buy an Apple product.

If you're willing to risk a bit for innovation, then Apple becomes a a lot of fun.

I find the animosity to be both silly and shocking. What's nice is to have a choice.

The biggest problem I have with apple is the Itunes thing. You can't get anything for your phone (or other products?) without an associated I-Tunes account. The misses bought her first Iphone in Hua Hin and being not very technical she let the girl at the counter set up everything for her without explaining anything. She set up and Itunes account but didn't give her the password and she has never been able to add even free apps to the phone because of her inability to sign in to Itunes.

She recently bought the latest and greatest phone from the Apple store here in the U.S. and even the Apple people could not rectify the problem. They said that because she already had an account set up there they could not fix it or give her a new one. I don't understand why she couldn't just start over. Seems she has to live the rest of her Apple life with no usable account because of what she did in Hua Hin that can't ever be undone!

Maybe something I don't understand but why cant she just create a new apple id? For example I gave my old iPhone to my wife, she created a new apple id and is able to use it and download apps.

Hardly Apple's fault.

It's easy to set-up a new Apple ID and would be beneficial if your wife wants to have an ID associated with the US Apple store rather than Thailand. The US store has a much greater choice and is considerably cheaper than almost any other so it's win:win. She will not be able to use the same email address to register a new account but that should be easy enough to rectify.

When her original account was set-up she should have been asked to set-up at least three security questions to recover the account in the event the password is forgotten. Provided the 'helpful' store assistant didn't do that for her too, she can visit https://appleid.apple.com to reset the password.

I have two Apple IDs; one for the US store and one for the Thai store.

It's only a minor hassle to switch between the two; but very useful.

For example, both the Garmin app and iFlix are (were?) only available on the Thai store. I got them both there. Normally, I buy everything on the US store.

I find it very surprising, almost unbelievable that someone at an Apple store would not know how to do this, I have purchased I Pads. I Phones in both the U.S and Thailand and its very easy to switch back and forth between the stores, something you can easily Google and find out. If this didn't work for her she could have just backed up all her data to a PC or to I Cloud and the Apple store could have done a factory reset back to scratch and just set it up as a new phone. Very easy to do..

If she can't reset her I Cloud password then again just wipe the phone to factory settings and go through the entire setup again creating a new I Cloud user name and pw.


To switch App Store countries
On your iPhone follow these steps:

Tap on the App Store icon in your Home Screen.
Tap on Featured on the bottom left corner of screen.
Scroll all the way to the bottom where your Apple ID info is. ...
Tap View Apple ID, you may have to enter your password.
Once the page loads Change your country/Region to United States.

The wife has a iPhone 6+ and our son has an iPad Air and we seem to be getting problems with both of them.
The phone seems to be loading with games that our son is loading onto his iPad and now the iPhone has a full memory (16gb) also, when they are both on YouTube they both run very slowly or not at all, despite having high speed fibre optic broadband ( 45 + gb) in the house.
Anyone any ideas why, when loading games on the iPad, they also load onto the phone.
Also, many of the games that have loaded onto the phone do not want to be deleted.

Are your wife and son both using the same Apple id?

I agree with Felipesed1. Probably same Aple account. Whenever I pick up my iPad (first model) which I never use it's full of not completely downloaded apps due too low memory. Same (new) apps as I have on my iPad Air.

Yes they are, I will set up new ID for my son as it seems from other posts that may be the cause.

Another problem her phone has, is that the alarm on the clock has disappeared?
