yes if anyone knows of a thai person who can act as a tech guide for new arrivals please speak up.

of course the challenge is communicating and the convoluted service packages they sell.

your internet provider (IP) will most likely be True Internet. You will get your own wifi router in your house/apt.

you may or may not have to deal with it depending on if your internet is provided where you are renting.

as for UK and USA television, because of Thailands reputation for stealing intellectual property many streaming services are blocked.

there are ways round it with proxy servers. do a search for proxy servers on this forum.

also be ready for google mail and other email providers to block access to your email account from thailand. they view any log in from thailand as a threat until you communicate with them. make sure you know answers to security questions and have alternate emails linked to primary accounts to get back in.

sorry if this is not much help. just take a deep breath and expect everything to take three times as long as back home.
I really like this forum because there are no personal attacks. All the members contribute in a positive way to my posts.

A number of forum members have subscribed to Thai Expat TV which shows the main UK terrestial channels at a cost of 6000 baht a year - they advertise on here or do a search and you'll find them easy enough. Maybe one of our US colleagues will advise about obtaining American TV programmes. There are also other internet providers such as 3BB and TOT - not much to choose between them service wise, they all get +ve and -ve comments.
