My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
As the release is imminent, I'm going to start posting informational articles about how to use/fix/modify Windows 10 after installation so that I (and anyone else) can reread them as needed after an upgrade to the OS, along with release news.
"Windows 10: Finally a decent Windows first release"

As you may expect, the media are releasing articles in "fast and furious" mode with the release scheduled for tomorrow. These are about a third of the entries that I read this morning...
"Microsoft launches Windows 10: Here's what that means"

This article is the best overview of Windows 10 I've read. Don't give up on the first page as they go over old news. Read on for details about the start menu, tiles, programs vs apps, Cortana, the Edge browser, Continuum, and more.
"Windows 10 Reviewed: Microsoft Returns to Sanity"

Why ? There is absolutely nothing wrong with Windows 7. It's what most corporations use at the moment, its stable, well put together, there is no reason to move to another O/S just because its the latest and greatest t hing that just came out.

I have worked in I.T for over 20 years supporting Microsoft products since the days of Windows 3.1 and Windows 95 so I will give you my opinion for what its worth. Wait... You have a year to choose the free upgrade, Windows 7 is supported till 2020 and 8 beyond that. There is NO GOOD REASON to upgrade to Windows 10 other than you have been suckered into the hype of the latest and "greatest" Microsoft Operating System. As with any and all new products there will be bugs, let the Microsoft Fan Boys install it first and go through the inevitable headaches of blue screens, bugs an fixes for the first 6 months before a version that's actually considered by the I.T community to be "stable" is actually running. You might install this and all of a sudden find your network port stopped working or your Wi Fi connection or your USB ports (or worse) because Windows 10 doesn't have the correct drivers for your laptop/PC.
Just because something is free doesn't mean you need to jump on the bandwagon. I love my Windows 7, there is absolutely no reason for me to upgrade at the moment even thought Microsoft will do everything in its powers to push me in that direction. (Nice job of copying what Apple has been doing for years btw!)
"The age of Service Packs—megalithic annual chunks of updates and patches—is over. Instead, Microsoft intends to fix things and add features continuously via quiet, automatic software releases."
This was my favorite part or the article!! updates and patches are still the same, updates and patches, you can polish a turd but guess what.... its still a turd at the end of the day, you can sugar coat it all you want, so now they are installing patches and fixes for you instead of you having control over them! That's all good and dandy until one of those fixes crashes your entire system.... working in I.T for so long I have seen it too many times, rebuilt systems from scratch too many times to know it's better to be able to choose which updates you apply yourself.
Again, just because its available today and free its still not a good enough reason to become an early adopter, leave it till at least the first real Service Pack or update comes around to fix the first batch of issues which will be inevitable...like one of the articles says, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" and my Windows 7 ain't broke...

^ Yep, most of the "experts" agree with you. I have a Windows 7 netbook, and 8.1 on a laptop and tablet. I may upgrade the tablet right away just to play with it but I'll wait on the two notebooks.

Agree 100%.
