Printer repair or buying a new printer?

Post by tirlittan »

My old small portable Canon ip90 printer has totally stopped working, I guess it wants to retire after many years of good service and numerous travels round the world; but if I could find a cheap repair service, I would like to give it one more try. Or buy a new, small, light, portable printer. Any advice of a printer repair service, and where to buy a new portable (Mac compatible) printer in Hua hin? Or do I need to go to Bangkok for that?

Buy new.
New and cheap.
Plan to throw away when it stops working.

After the aggravation of trying to find a repair shop you can trust, where they know what they are doing, you'll be better off just buying new and be done with it.

I buy a new printer every 2-3 years.
Current printer, bought last year, is Epson "L210" with built-in ink tanks.
Very convenient -- no cartridges: just pour in a small bottle of ink.

Epson easy to find at computer shops in Thailand.
I've learned to buy from shops that specialize in printers, where they will un-pack, set up, check everything, and, if asked, deliver free.

Top of the old Shopping Mall or third floor of Market Village would be good starting points

Bought a canon MG 3570 from power buy. Very happy with it so far. 1200 bt for the ink change though but it does the miles better than my epson did. Think it was just over 3k and its wireless. Fast also.

Power Buy is Soi 88. The Old Shopping Mall is across from Hua Hin Temple, next door the the Collonade building site.

S
Many printers are made to stop functioning after a preset period of time or a number of cpies printed. A dirty trick by the industry. Nothing is made to last.
