oh, to be wound up, now that the time is winding down.
Re: The scourge of Facebook
What a pile of sh*te Facebook is. I saw a post Friday evening. Mrs BB has just asked me for that information - I've been scrolling backwards for 45 minutes now, and am still only on 17 Sept

^ Yes, it's frustrating. You can be assured if you click/open anything in News feed or Pages feed it won't be there the next time you go back. If you see something and don't open it, chances 50-50 it will or won't be there if you look again later....even the next time you open FB if only a short time between sessions. The buggers want to keep feeding new things quickly to generate advert revenue. Pete

Re: The scourge of Facebook
G'day mates,
Admitted - Facebook has its flaws.
With so many customers they don't have to give a damn
about customer satisfaction.
My first FB account was hacked, and I could no longer access it.
Fortunately all my photo albums were public, so I could still visit my
account as a stranger.
I even wrote a registered letter to their main office. Went into the
waster paper basket or shredder, I suppose.
It's definitely politically biased - pro-muslim & anti-Jewish, anti-Israel.
Still it provides for incorrigible loners like me a unique opportunity to
connect with the people, causes and institutions I care for.

P.S. And your FB friends are not put off by bad breath or body odour either. Lol

Here is one for all you guys that get all of your news from Farcebook ...
Facebook’s fake news crisis deepens
Despite the best efforts of Mark Zuckerberg to downplay Facebook’s role in the election of Donald Trump, the scrutiny of how fake news is spread on the platform has intensified.
Buzzfeed News is reporting that "more than dozens" of Facebook employees have created an unofficial task force dedicated to addressing the issue.
Buzzfeed quoted one member of that task force, who did not want to be named over fears for their job.
“[Mark Zuckerberg] knows, and those of us at the company know, that fake news ran wild on our platform during the entire campaign season,” the source said.
Facebook has not responded to the BBC’s request for comment on Buzzfeed’s report.
Meanwhile, Google on Monday announced it would do more to prevent fake news sites from making money through advertising. Shortly after, Facebook made explicit a similar restriction on the use of its ad network.

Here is an earlier article from the Guardian about how websites are being set up just to make money from the advertising revenue on right wing American news stories. Apparently they found over a hundred of them in one small town in Macedonia:

Re: The scourge of Facebook
Who defines 'fake' and what does it mean? Imagine a video of hillary stumbling while walking on flat ground and needing to be supported by those next to her for many steps after she stumbled. Is if fake news to say, without a shred of evidence, she was drunk? Most would say yes. If a news organization such as CNN had a reporter who saw it and cameraman who recorded it, is it fake news to not broadcast it and question her health? Most not on the left side of the political spectrum would say yes.buksida wrote: Despite the best efforts of Mark Zuckerberg to downplay Facebook’s role in the election of Donald Trump, the scrutiny of how fake news is spread on the platform has intensified.
