Re: TOT And Weird Routing

My connection was fine early in the morning but has slowed down considerably since lunchtime.

This in Korat:

My TOT fiber optic service has been running fine for the six months I've had it except for the past week or so. It used to be I could count on it going down momentarily once a day, usually at about 1:00 AM when I'd get a new IP address.

Now it goes down several times a day and sometimes stays down for many minutes. So far today it has gone down at 9:45, 10:04, 10:25, 10:45, 13:05 and 13:30. The PPP error message in the router log is: "timeout waiting for PADO packets".

The last outage was for nearly half an hour. When it comes back up, the bandwidth is fine; just about what I pay for.

Anyone else noticing this sort of behavior?

Finally got an answer from TOT. It seems they are "testing" which is what is causing my Internet connection to go down every twenty minutes, more or less.

Just had 2 days of the same with 3BB (not Fibre) I have lost count of the number of times it has dropped out.
Its been in and out more times than a fiddlers elbow. Been on for an hour this morning and it's been ok but now at 7.30am. it's decided to go walkabout again.

TOT internet to international sites extremely slow these last 3 to 4 days. ftp downloads slow as hell out of the UK. BBC site up and down like a yoyo. Speedtests on servers outside Thailand abysmal

Anyone else experiencing this. I'm on 80MB fibre download

^ Yes, it seems to be countrywide. The explanation we were given out of the Bangkok office is that "they are upgrading the entire system" and they will be finished sometime this week. Being suspicious, it could very well be they are shifting to the much talked about single gateway that the Gov swore wouldn't happen. Don't believe it. If so, international speed may never get better. I've been on a VPN connecting to Singapore all day and subsequently international sites have been easily accessed at normal speeds. Pete

Thanks prcscct , been wasting so much time trying to work out whose the culprit.

I'll give it a few days to see what improvements if any occur, speedtest downloads out of london less than 1MB and pings over 300ms, not a happy man!

I wouldn't be surprised at all if this was the reason TOT is undergoing maintenance/upgrades that are affecting performance.

Not on the same IP but I use 3BBs Fibre Optic ( Cost BHT 1,200pm ) in Hua Hin and just did a speed test of 136mb download and 55mb upload. I have had it since late 2015 and not a single breakdown!

Just to follow up on this, my TOT fiber here in the East has returned to normal since yesterday. Occasionally there is a small delay with international sites but nothing serious so I would say mine is now 95% of what it was before the problems started. Pete
