Sandman's Last Stand

Post by sandman67 »

Well guys, though it pains me, work and finances are forcing me to go back to the UK for a while till things stabalise. 2012 has been, as Good Queen Liz would say, an annus horriblis.

Gotta say, just the thought of months in the cold place has me reaching for the voddy.

SO.... its my birthday on SUNDAY 17th FEB, and I would really love it if HHAD chums old and new popped along to share a beer and an adieu with me, and maybe a bit of cake at midnight. Richard and I will be propping up the end of the bar at PP BAR from 9pm ish onwards, so if you are out and about swing by, share a beer or two, and help me commiserate getting older and facing a (hopefully) short exile back to the frozen hell that is the UK.

See you on Sunday my fellow strangers in a strange land

No reason why you can`t still contribute whilst in "exile". Where in the UK will you be?

I think many of us who considered at the outset we'd be here till we went home in a box or an urn are no longer sure.

Exchange rates and inflation quite often mean a change in lifestyle is a must and those who are lucky enough to have an escape route survive. Some however, (and I know a few) are destined to seek refuge in the 'jungle' without papers etc

All is rosy on the surface but in reality many are suffering :(

Well, best of luck SM. I think we're about the same age, and I'd probably be unemployable if I had to go back to the UK now (not that I want to). I guess if you can find work there, and it's your only option, then you have to do it. Good luck to you.

Have a great birthday on the 17th  (Mr.VS is a fellow Aquarian and his 5th cycle is the day before...).

Good luck back here in the old Country SM. There can be worst times to arrive back than at the onset of spring - if we're lucky!

You heading back to the salubrious delights of Tottenham?

Damn, MrS. I am running out of people to argue with. Where will I be without you calling me an uneducated, religious maniac, CT-tin-foil hatter? Wherever you are, please continue to contribute to the forum. One-line posts on where to find bicycle clips will not sustain me.

Will come along for a beer and wish you a more successful 2013. :thumb:
