Anyone know where I can find an interpreter for an hour's time?

I think that there is a job opportunity for someone fluent in Thai and English to fill this role. Many guys (who do not have a LHG) have problems at Govt offices, banks and esp at Hospitals.

I use my Thai language teacher, at Sirada Learning Centre for this exact same service. Her name is Kruu Oh. She is out today but back in the office tomorrow. SIRADA is located on the ground floor of 83/14 Wongchomsin Building, about 100 meters (maybe 150 meters) south of the Tessaban traffic lights and on the east side of the road. It’s the tallest building in that area, 5 floors tall I think, 6 if you count the offices built on the rooftop area. There is a map to their location on their website, www.learningcentre.co.th

That's useful to know. I know the place as she did a translation for me last year.
How much does she charge for an hour?

I once used a bar girl, who spoke good english to purhase some furniture for me. The price she got was almost 30% less that what was quoted to me despite heavy bargaining. I gave her a 10% commission that was well deserved and even got a quickie bonus on the new furniture when it was delivered !

The seller was probably her husband, who raised his prices 100% in the quotes given to you......Husband happy...Bar girl happy....You happy.
Win,win,win...

Easiest is to ask bar staff near to you, they are always very helpful and in the past I have almost had to force them to take any money for their time.

:P well actually I randomly chose the shops so.... but you do have a point in never trusting a friendly soul wanting to take you to visit a great-deal-bargain-shop

There was a Thai lady , married to a Swedish guy. They used to come to HH for 5-6 months in the winter. She had done some nursing work in Sweden. She used to accompany Swedish people when they visited doctors or hospital and did a wonderful job. I think that there is an opportunity for a business in this line of work.
