Reliable Coach Operator Required

Post by DTHHSA »

Not sure if this is the right forum (feel free to move to Motoring or wherever) as Thais can probably help just as well as you expats, but here goes anyway.
Does anybody know of a reliable coach operator based locally?
Dusit Thani Hua Hin Football Academy is looking to contract out away tips for our matches in the Western Thailand Football Academy League. Two years we alternated between minibuses and coaches, depending on the venue, which was fine but expensive with a coach costing in the region of Baht 12,000 per match.
Last year, with the help of the hotel, we used the army buses from Naresuan Camp. This was also fine, much cheaper with good drivers. However the natural 'air-con' and open windows/doors made the journeys rather noisy and put the team at risk to the elements - hardly ideal pre-match preparation.
This year the league is expanding and so there will be more trips. Our generous sponsors have indicated they may be able to assist in some way with coach travel and so we need a 50-seater (or bigger) coach for the away trips to destinations such as Rachaburi, Kanchanaburi, Suphan Buri, Nontaburi, Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram and Bangkok, plus a couple of planned 2-day tournaments.
Cost and safety might not go hand in hand, but both are absolutely vital. The former because transport and food for away coach travel is free for the registered players and so each trip drains resources considerably. The latter for the obvious reason that parents are placing their beloved offspring in our hands.
For league matches, departure is usually around dawn, returning to Hua Hin after sunset on most occasions.
For tournaments, overnight stays are inevitably required for proper preparation and we do pay for the drivers accommodation and food in the team hotel, usually Dusit Princess Srinakarin.
Hoping somebody might know some good contacts out there who can help. New league season is scheduled to begin in October, but some tournaments might well take place beforehand.

The guy who arranges travel for Hua Hin City's supporters is called Bay, and can be reached on 081 252 6429. He always seems to find the right solution for us. If all else fails, I suggest you give him a call - he's one of the good guys :D .

Much appreciated BB. Will give Khun Bay a call in the coming days. Does he speak good English or is it better to ask one of our Thais to do the honours?
Will let you know how we get on.

My wife is the one who usually speaks to him. He has some English, but maybe easier if a Thai speaks to him.
