Tropical fish store?
We are looking for a tropical fish store in Hua Hin.
There used to be one at Market Village but that is apparently long gone.
I know grand night market has fish sellers on certain nights, but we want to find a real store carrying a variety of fish and equipment such as pumps and tanks and perhaps an owner who is friendly and knows something about aquariums and fish. ( Too much to ask??)
We thought we had found a place out by the airport, but it carries no equipment and only "lion-head" fish . .and no attendant bothered to appear when I checked it out this morning.
There is a place along the railroad ( the busy street that parallels the tracks and runs in front of the station, but it is a dirty, disorganized wreck of a place with an unfriendly owner.
Anyone know of another place?? Thanks

Re: Tropical fish store?
Thanks Sateeb,
I looked through the whole thread and found nothing useful I'm afraid.
The thread provides directions to a place in Rachaburi and mentions sources in Bangkok . .but I was hoping for a place in Hua Hin where . . .with all the hotels and condos . .one might expect to find a decent tropical fish shop. ( Perhaps a good business idea for someone with the knowledge and inclination?)
The thread mentions the place we went to the other day along the railroad tracks which is dirty (one of those dark holes where half the tanks contain nothing but dirty water and you can not move about for the boxes and junk piled around on the floor . . .and the owner is unfriendly.
And it mentions the market village place . .now long gone ( thread goes back to 2010)
We might have to resort to the Grand Night market and buying fish out of those tubs . .but they dont carry much equipment. ( We need a new pump, filters, light bulb)
The new pet store at MACRO is a good example of the kind of store we would like to see dealing in tropical fish: well-stocked, clean and bright, easy to find . .ok the staff are not that attentive, but they are also not surly so the experience of shopping there is not unpleasant.

If you cross the railway line and head up a little bit past G Market, there's a smallish place on the same side of the road. They sell pumps, filters and etc, and quite a few different types of fish, and if you pop in every once in a while, you might also find certain species which you don't often see in most pet shops. Just the other day I saw an Indian Rope Fish there, and also two very nice archer fish, along with all their other regular stock.

You know, we passed that store the other night ( looking for Margaritas Mexican Restaurant) but it closed while we were driving around and we didnt get to go in! I had forgotten all about it.
We will definitely give it a shot tomorrow and I'll post what we find.
Thanks for jogging my memory.

We use a large pet "store"/"lot" just off the canal road. Not many exotics but plenty of stock fish, plus many other animals kept in quite good conditions. Not a lot of english, but the family always try to understand our needs and help.
Head north on canal road, take the last U turn before the traffic lights, keep to LH lane, after about 50 to 100 meters there will be large signs for a hotel, hang a left straight after. The Soi is at about 45 degrees to the canal road so you should be traveling SE direction. About 30 meters on LH side there is parking on the verge outside.

Found our new slightly larger (cm 36x21x30 depth) tank and pump/filter at a store selling art and decorations just off the road as you travel south to Pranburi.
Still have the stock, slightly smaller, squareish tank and filter brought in MV 4 years ago. Free to a good home.

There's one on the same road as the train station ( same side). A few hundred metres down from the station ( as if heading to Soi 10)

Tropical fish store?
Bumping up a thread I started several years ago and looking for updated info. Our koi died while we were away on vacation ( most probably a combination of lack of oxygen and overfeeding due to serious miscommunication with our gardener)
Anyway. Fish stores seem to come and go here. . .any suggestions?

Not something I use, but I've seen one open up near the G Supermarket near me. If you come up Soi 88 (from Petchkasem) and go between the 2 7-11s. Go as far as the bend at the top of the hill and the shop is just around the corner. Good or bad, I wouldn't know.

Re: Tropical fish store?
Also try the Monday market at Cha Am, and the "fish supermarket" at Bang Pon, Ratchaburi. Everything you could possibly want. 7 days a week.
Re: Tropical fish store?
Up soi 88 like BB says and at the top the road goes left. Just past the noodle shop on the right is a shop and also opposite the supermarket on the left. I have seen a new one somewhere but things change so quickly in HH I cannot remember. Will report if I see it.
Re: Tropical fish store?
I was in the Soi 88 one 2 days ago. Looks well run and helpful staff
Enjoying 'Retirement'....So many jobs to do, I don't know how I ever had time to work!
Re: Tropical fish store?
Business mentioned in my post Apr 2013 has now moved further south on canal road. Going south it is 2 stores past a open air market, about 150/200 m before T junction with 3218.
