I was driving up Canal Road todaye going North and a couple of blocks before the traffic lights with the timer, on the right hand side, was a large poster in front of a shophouse saying 'Moon Smile & Platoo opening soon' so I presume it is their new location.

It will be interesting to see if their huge clientele will follow them.

I find it incredible a lot of furniture has remained whilst demolition has gone on all around it.

Sounds like times are a changing. One day I may not be able to recognize Hua Hin. 555
Actually I like to eat lunches on the sea side behind the little Chinese temple at
the Hua Hin of Hua Hin just north of the Hilton Hotel.

I've been thinking about this, and wondering. Before the buildings were there, it was open air dining under the stars. Has this returned, and the furniture in the picture gets set out every evening?

Had my first meal in HH at one of those little
stalls behind the temple, way back in 1998.
Sad to see them go. 😭
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

Looking at the photos on HuaHin61's post the temple management is probably giving a sigh of relief. If the gas bottles at one of those shops went off by accident the wooden walls and roof of that portion of the temple would be gone in a blink of an eye. Not a real concern if a private house with proper roof, but a big concern if a restaurant cooking most of the day and into the night. I know, I'm suffering from "old lady syndrome" right now but I've seen similar so many times with restaurant fires here. :( Pete

I was down there earlier and took a quick phone pic timed at 5.19pm. The furniture is piled up at one end and must be in a bit of state with the weather. The whole area looks a hell of a mess. I hope they finish the job off quickly and restore the ground area and temple walls. I have to say that the restaurants that were there didn't show much consideration to the temple!

If you look at those photos in the link above, it looks like that Chen Seafood place is being dismantled rather than demolished, there are stacks of building materials on the pavement. Presumably they're going to try and rebuild it somewhere else.

An earlier photo also showed piles of furniture at the other end of the block, while demolition was taking place all around.

The wooden temple in the photograph was only built in the last year, the restaurants and shops had been there a lot longer, to tell you the truth I go past this area quite a lot and never see anybody in or around either this or the older brick temple further do the road.

I assume the shops and restaurants where legally built and operated, as can be seen in the photo, all have water meters and had electricity so assume electric meters, which must have been sanctioned by the local authorities.

The new wooden temple maybe going to be utilised soon, this could be why the places have been demolished now.

I would wish either to be re-opened at the beach front (nice but expensive) or in a place between Soi80 and Soi94, which would be re-open again to these restaurants like BamBam or Natcha or Chen, it would be more pleasant in nice open buildings with reasonable (and western style) toilets.
