It's probably been mentioned before...

We used to visit the floating markets quite a bit (very close to us) as my kids like the train, treats and occasional toys we got them.

But last visit I was made to pay 200 Baht for tourist walk in. We argued that I'm living nearby, have thai DL, housebook, non-imm visa etc. No go they said, only if I get a Thai ID card they say. My wife said we wont be coming back.

Not sure where to post maybe Mods should move as they think fit as this is rip off/anti rip off, medical, hairdresser, loyalty cards?

Yesterday went to Blue Port for the first time, been avoiding it but wife's hairdresser (Chet) attends alternate weeks with MV.
While wandering basement floor found GMC for heath supplements, up to this point the wife and friends have relied on people bringing Cranberry tablets back from the UK (useful to prevent bladder infection I'm told).
GMC had them but Baht 1100 for large container? 50% off said sales assistant, you have passport?
Filled out gold card application using driving license for passport number and got 50% discount.
Sticker on back of card says 20% discount Sundays and Tuesdays not sure on other advantages.

I always use loyalty cards, on the same day a Boots bill of Baht 320 was reduced by Baht 90.
Last week Facino meds for the wife's asthma were reduced by more than Baht 200, they supply Seratide without prescription, which is required by Boots, as long as they keep the receipt for government records.
Villa surprise me occasionally with Baht 500 off the weekly shop and there is always Tesco, Index and Home Pro.

Some cards like Facino and Index give immediate discount others are accumulative like Villa, Boots and Tesco, not having these cards, to pay full price all of the time, yes it is a rip off.

Back to a more basic rip off. Sunday lunch, facing the gulf, approx soi 49. Name begins with Put' . Small bottle of Sosa water plus 1 slice of lime and ice. 90 baht plus service plus tax. There's something about water!! back in the U.K. Motorway service stations a litre of water costs mote than a litre of petrol..

Now here's a rip-off if ever there was one.
I've been refurbishing aerators at the Lodge and decided to upgrade the power feeds.
Needed some 3 core 4mmsq cable
Shop opposite Big C on the Pa La U road TB 6,500 for a 100m length
'Global' Pranburi THB 5,350 for a 100m length
'Watsaddu' THB 4,040 for a 100m length 8)
All EXACTLY the same brand (Bangkok Cable Co) and EXACTLY the same product.

Haven't looked in Home Pro - wouldn't even bother :banghead:

LOL, if you did, they'd try to convince you that you needed something completely different.
