Sorry didn't mean to cause a ruckus, was just putting forward a view. People take death and life too seriously. We are but a speck in the universe and yet we worry whether someone decides to run a railway crossing and make it our business?

Nobody's making it their business; they're just venting frustrations - if we didn't drop our jaw in disbelief at people's stupidity, are we not on the path to becoming just as stupid ourselves?

As for...

...the day I stop taking death seriously is the day I've lost contact with my inner self!

Paraphrases of somethings I learned, and occasionally practice, from my studying with a Zen teacher:
It's easier to note the world's fault's than one's own.
One's reason for wanting to change the world points directly at a part of one's self that would benefit from growth.

Thread drift? Absolutely.

I grew up on a farm in Australia and the local "village" had two rail crossings, one at each end about 1 Km apart. They both had big signs on them that read: "It takes about 1 minute for a train to pass this crossing, regardless of whether your car is on it or not". (or words to that affect) I do not recall there ever being an accident on either of them.

Of course, it would never make any difference here as few people read ANY road signs, never mind follow the message on them! :banghead:

An old thread, but it seems appropriate.

I was driving my dogs to the beach at 7pm this evening. As I approached the Soi 94 railway crossing, the barrier came down. To my left I could see the train coming towards me from Hua Hin Railway Station.

In the time it took the train to get to Soi 94 (less than a minute), 7 motorcyclists and 3 horse riders zig zagged through the barrier. MADNESS.

^ Well wonder no more!!

It's common knowledge. Time spent in a bar is not "wasted".
