Live here. Four years in Hua Hin 7 in Thailand.
I'm starting to consider greener pastures. It is getting harder to live here everyday. Just some of the gripes:
The dogs that keep me up at night and make walking dangerous.
A few days ago I used ATM to withdraw money from my US account and it stalled for about 5mins and then A red message that it couldn't complete the transaction. Debitted my account however. At least it gave my card back. Krung Thai bank says that someday they will send the money back to my account. Maybe in a couple weeks.
People burning garbage and the smoke coming in my windows.
Hit and run on my parked car. Not too bad.
People stepping in line in front of me at checkout.
The cost of living going up and house prices so much higher then most of the world including US.
I'm glad I'm renting since the house is cracking in half due to poor fondation.
Yesterday a large snake living near my front door.
Neighbors drinking and loud starting after midnight. They apologized for accidently stealing electric from my meter. I know I am a falang but I'm not as stupid as they think.
So maybe time for a change.

I obviously ticked the "live here full time" option. Been living in Hua-Hin since 2004, first in Takiap, and then in Bofai. No intention of leaving but of course things could change.

Mr P, I am from SA, but not been back there since 1995 when I left for a one year "travel around Europe" holiday. Sorry, I have been back twice, once in 1996 and once in 2000, but both times it was only for two or three weeks.

I'm in the few months a year category as my house in Hua Hin is my only proper home but I work away, normally returning about four times a year. I hope to cut down to working about six months a year over the next year or two, so am planning on spending more time there in the future.

Quite interesting to see some of these replies from those who are working, but nearing retirement. I have a family here, and everything that goes with that, such as schooling, my wife's work and etc, so for us, Hia-Hin in convenient, and it probably will be for the remainder of my life. However,if it was just me on my own, I don't really think I'd be living here, there are lots of other alternatives for someone seeking a quite life, such as a few of the smaller and quieter islands for example.

Up north in Isaan isn't really for me, although it could be I guess, if circumstances allowed. I would love to try my hand at farming, but Mrs Takiap won't even consider it.

All in all, I'm happy here........crazy drivers, packs of Soi dogs, and everything else the area has to offer. :thumb:

I have been visiting Thailand for over twenty years. I decided to retire at the ridiculous age of 47 and have been living here for just over 10 years.
Living in the hills just outsida Cha-am. Peace and tranquillity all around.
Sheer bliss!

We are in Hua Hin for around four months over a year, since 2005, but hope to make it permanent very soon.

Have a house in the hills off 3218 and it is mostly peaceful. May look to build something a bit bigger but would expect good security. Will spend at least 6 months a year in Hua Hin but want to travel to see Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia etc. Enjoying escape from UK winter weather but have yet to experience June July and August in Hua Hin.

Shame. Everywhere has it's down side. Thailand has snakes end of story - it goes with the territory. But have you thought about just trying a different part of HuaHin?
