Well, it may not be the tropical storm, but this has been bad enough. We're on our 3rd power cut of the day.

That is an excellent wx map showing the track and size that huge storm.

Phuket flooded, storm warning for Thailand

Phuket was flooded from some localized event, not this approaching tropical storm.

I'm just back from the football. During the match, wave after wave of very black cloud crossed the stadium, but in true Hua Hin fashion, not a drop of rain fell.

Heavy rain floods parts of Bangkok, more to come

http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/general ... recent_box

Heavy rain is expected in much of Greater Bangkok for the next few days and flash floods are possible in other areas of the country, the Meteorological Department warned on Wednesday.

Forecasters said rain or thunderstorms are likely over more than half of the capital and its next-door provinces.

The eastern provinces can expect more rain, along with some areas in the northeastern and southern regions, it said. The rain this week is due to the active monsoon trough and a low-pressure area over the country, the department said.

Heavy rain briefly pounded several districts in Bangkok on Wednesday. Phra Khanong was hardest hit by the downpour with 61.5 millimetres of rain, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration reported. Some roads in 12 districts were flooded before the water drained later in the day.

The flood situation remained serious in Kalasin, Phitsanulok and Satun due to the impact of storm Doksuri, which flooded 12 provinces from Friday to Tuesday, according to an update by the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department released on Wednesday. Floods have eased in the nine other provinces.

Department director-general Chatchai Promlert expressed concern about the rising level of the Yom River, with provinces it flows through vulnerable to fresh flooding.

Provinces regularly flooded by the Yom are Sukhothai, Phitsanulok and Pichit.

Well, I think some body may have peed in the rain gauge! I am at Phrakhanong and we did get a heavy shower around 12-30, just as I arrived back home, but I doubt very much it was anywhere near 61.5 mm. It is now overcast but not looking anything like it will rain.

There is a line of low pressure cells all the way from India, across Myanmar, northern Thailand, Laos, Vietnam right out into the western Pacific. But the prevailing wind is steady from the west and not very strong.

The heavy rain yesterday must have washed away the Thai Met Dept. Website! It is a hot summers day in Bangkok with just a few fluffy clouds floating about.

^Per below there seems to be some stuff approaching from the southeast. I would think we'll get some wet tonight.

The Thai Website is up again. The line of low pressure cells extending all the way from India has moved south over Thailand. There is an active low pressure cell over the southern tip of Cambodia, which is probably what you are seeing Pete.

Not sure what it's like in HH but where our house is near the Energy project, the heavens have opened for the past 1+ hours and localized flooding everywhere
