Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income
I don't know how it works in the UK but in the Netherlands I have to inform the tax authorities that I live abroad and tell them which pensions I wish to be taxed abroad. The tax authorities then send a letter to the companies that pay me the pensions informing them that they do not need to deduct t...

Re: Tax residency in Thailand
As far as I know the rules about state pension (and any Civil Service pensions) are that tax must be paid in the country of origin and they are tax free in any other country having an agreement not to double tax (UK, Europe, Thailand, etc.). As far as Thai tax is concerned the current rates for taxa...

Re: Tax residency in Thailand
I receive state pension from both the UK and the Netherlands. State pension is always taxed in the land that pays it. I also receive private pensions from insurance companies in the Netherlands. I can choose to pay tax on these in either Thailand or the Netherlands. I choose to pay tax in Thailand b...

Re: Indian restaurants in Hua Hin
We had a meat and a vegatable thali in Kwalati last night. Both were very good and for a good price. I'm glad it's back!

Re: A Warning to Vegans
Beside the vegan who killed herself with the wrong food it was also nice to read that a top Australian chef has banned vegans from his restaurant in order to avoid a nervous breakdown. Very understandable. I have never come across a vegan who keeps their views to themselves and doesn't want to tell ...

Re: Current golf promotions
We don't have sports days in Hua Hin. There are however several groups you could easily join. Some play the same course each time and others play several courses. Some are more serious than others and some are more interested in drinking than golf. It all depends what you are looking for.

Re: Airport VIP Bus to and from Hua Hin
I use this bus when possible because it is much more comfortable than a taxi. There are normally quite a few empty seats. Problem is that the bus only goes about 5 times a day and the times often do not match with your departure/arrival times.

Re: Current Sunday Roast availability
I wouldn't call Nit's roast fantastic but it's OK. The Yorkshire puddings are too "cakey" for me but I can eat them. For a "normal" price Sunday Roast then Nany's is about the best (along with Bistro 88) although the quality at Le Pub and Rafferty's is better if you are willing t...

Re: Current Sunday Roast availability
Nit has the same problem that she had in Soi 94 years ago. The Yorkshire puddings are like cakes. I think this is caused by making the batter too thick (it should have the consistency of cream) and/or opening the oven door whilst the puds are cooking.
