Re: Children's Day in Thailand, guns banned
So I guess all the kids in Thailand should spend Children's Day sitting around watching reruns of Sponge Bob Square Pants.

Re: Seeking professionals for depression treatment in Hua Hin
There are no mediocre Psychiatrists. They are either great at their profession or they are narcissistic arses.

Re: Seeking professionals for depression treatment in Hua Hin
If the depression is clinical you need a Psychiatrist to prescribe medication, if it's emotional you can talk to a Psychologist, they can't prescribe. For clinical depression ALWAYS get, at least, a second opinion before taking drugs. If the MD doesn't do a complete physical workup with blood tests...

Re: Parcel service to Europe that accepts electronics
Any parcel service other than Post Office is going to be expensive. DHL in basement of BluPort is very professional.

Re: Thailand eyes lifelong learning push
It's interesting that teachers rarely address different ways of learning. Some learn by reading, some by touch, some by hearing, some are visual learners and most are some combination. In a classroom there is usually only 2 ways to learn: by reading or aurally and those who learn differently are fr...

Re: Proposal to make health insurance mandatory for long-stay visas
Look at it from the Thai govt hospitals point of view. Ex-pats, who they consider to all be wealthy, show up at their hospitals, who have limited budgets, get care and then refuse to pay. You can see how they would encourage such a measure. Or do what the likes of Bangkok Hospital do, pay before tr...

Re: Are expats falling out of love with the Land of Smiles?
To address the subject of this thread, I never was in with Thailand. Just one person here.
In all the countries I've been to, I find LOS no better or worse than any of them.
In comparison to the US, the people here are far better behaved.

Re: Proposal to make health insurance mandatory for long-stay visas
Regarding my earlier post. The VA only covers preexisting conditions that are a result of my military service.
The battle I had with them was connecting new ailments as being caused by the preexisting ones.
Quite the opposite in terms of medical coverage.

Re: Discovery of more WWII bombs....
Quite a problem they have on their hands. Seems to me if the bombs are deep enough, 100 feet, using a secondary small explosive to destroy them in place. Even if the bomb were to detonate, you would a big plume of water and a lot of dead fish. But that's about all. Have remember, these things were d...

Re: Proposal to make health insurance mandatory for long-stay visas
That's an old trick that US hospitals did years ago "Mr RCer, you need to have some tests done--if we do them as an OP you will have to pay and recover it from your insurer, but if we admit you for a day we can bill directly and you will not have to pay" I tried that idea. BKK hospital wo...
