Re: Where to get a medical certificate

Most clinics will do them, but they're not comprehensive. Sometimes you don't even see the doctor...

Re: Chinese tourists (and their habits) surge into Thailand

The Chinese tourists shouldn't be allowed near any wildlife - they have absolutely no idea how to conduct themselves and don't follow rules. Can I back this up with evidence? Yes. We visited a national park in Nepal a few years ago. There was a bunch of Chinese tourists staying - much to the disgust...

Re: Bitcoin mining and cryptocurrency thread

One thing to remember is this is NOT investing it is gambling. Totally agree, but if you gamble on a football match or a horse race and your pick doesn't win, you've lost all your money. When 'investing' in Cryptos YOU have total control of your money - you may go in too high and lose a bit, but yo...

Re: Opening a bank account which bank?

Bangkok Bank were by far the most 'foreign friendly' of all the banks we have dealt with. We managed to get a credit card with them (we did have to deposit money, so it's not really a credit card), but it does enable us to rent a car in the UK. We both have work permits, which I think swung the deal...

What sad news. I felt like I knew him, although I'd never met him, through his comments on the forum. He came across as a genuinely nice guy.

Condolences to his wife and son.

Re: Thai Deputy PM's bling attracts unwanted attention

In today's Bangkok Post he's been reported wearing another expensive watch - a Rolex this time. I just love the story that his good mate (who has since died) lent them to him, and he 'forgot' to give them back... If I were the family of the good mate, I'd be demanding their return.

Great photos from both BB and Rcer. If I had to vote for a favourite, it'd be the XK120 Jag. Absolutely gorgeous.

Re: Smoking ban on Hua Hin and Thai beaches, jail time for offenders

Chatchawal said operators and locals would talk to tourists whenever they started smoking at the prohibited zones to ask them to go to the designated areas instead. He noted that many tourists appeared upset when they were told to do so as they had paid to use the chairs. The ban, he said, was most...

Re: The Peril of Bar or Restaurant Ownership

Dare I say it, but one of the longest running restaurants in Hua Hin is All In Hua Hin, and it's run by a German couple (who are lovely). It's the place we always go to when in Hua Hin, because it caters exactly for our needs. VS Sorry mods, this isn't an advert for them, it's just to explain that a...

How long do you have left on your visa? If you get a re-entry permit (you can get it at the airport) it won't affect your visa.

Re: Online Ordering - a sign of the times?

A nice positive story about online shopping. Mr.VS bought an electric razor online and it stopped working after about 4 months. It wasn't that expensive, so it didn't have a guarantee. He sent a polite note to the suppliers telling them about it. He got an email back saying if he sent it back, he'd ...

Re: Bitcoin mining and cryptocurrency thread

I know that this is a slightly serious thread, especially as we're talking about money, but I couldn't help thinking about the various types of people who are buying Cryptos at the moment, so I've come up with a few definitions. Feel free to add more: Cryptoists: The Shifter A possibly shifty person...
