Re: Minivan, bus and road accidents

I would guess the road will now be blocked off until further notice.
I doubt it, they will just put an old plastic water bottle on a stick to warn drivers to use the one remaining lane on the U-turn bridge.

Re: Khao Yai Cha Am - New Road or What?

There are a lot of monkeys in that area, I have climbed the trails inside the park and the monkeys were quite aggressive at times. Anybody going there should take a big stick with them. (And plenty of industrial strength mossie spray too) Were there any monkeys on the cycle path? The small park has ...

Re: TripAdvisor Offers Shallow Advice Concerning Hua Hin Restaurants

1. Peek Mai, hard to find lunchtime gem, always busy, hidden behind foliage on the main road between Hua Hin and Cha Am (Curries and Pad Thai) (1126/18 เพชรเกษม Petchkasem Rd, Cha-am, Cha-am District, Phetchaburi 76120, Thailand) 2. Unnamed noodle shop, also on the main highway just out of Hua Hin, ...

Re: Is there a shortage of new cars?

I went in to Honda yesterday to inquire about the new HRV, 5 month wait they told me. Then I drove up the road to Toyota to ask about the Corolla Cross, the salesman laughed out loud as if I had told him the funniest joke ever. Impossible he said, no microchips, maybe 6 months. I find all this hard ...

Re: Thailand Air Pollution Alerts

As far as I can remember, and until Covid we had been here since 2005, the visibility has never been as bad as this, and the murk has never been as continuous or lasted as long.....it used to be for a day or two and the sun and breeze would disperse it. ..... and its no consolation at all to say its...

Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand

Recently returned to Hua Hin after being in the UK for 2 years because of Covid travel restrictions and although I am glad to be back I am horrified by the poor air quality. I am in a beachfront condo near the airport and I am used to crystal clear views back to the hills and along the coast North t...

Re: Covid-19 News (Thailand and Southeast Asia only)

Warning against traveling to Thailand. February 3, 2022 - by Gregers Møller - 29 Comments. Travelers to Thailand whose PCR tests return a positive are in a very high risk of being caught up in a web of rules that nobody warned them of before their departure. The SHA+ and ASQ hotels where the travel...

The loser is the one whose money runs out first.
That is the only advice you need.

(.... and if the neighbour is a Thai ..... you must surely know how a screamy shouty one may react should he lose the case, and face, to a foreigner. )

Re: Covid-19 Omicron Variant

The reason the UK reports more cases than other countries is because the UK has the highest rate of testing in the world. It also is a leader in genome sequencing, the technique used to identify variants. https://www.statista.com/statistics/1104645/covid19-testing-rate-select-countries-worldwide/ Co...

Re: Convert Visa Exempt to OA retirement

I am in exactly the same position, my retirement visa expired 10 months ago and I would like to return next March and start with a 30 day tourist visa on arrival. There seems to be so much confusing and conflicting info. around at the moment so any updates on requirements from those who have done th...

Re: Moving Back To Thailand Next Year

Hi Storekeeper, I recognise your username from one of the more "vibrant" expat forums, so welcome to this forum, a very polite and civilised place in comparison, much like Hua Hin in fact. I am sure you will get good answers to all your questions here. We retired here in 2007, to a beachfr...

Re: Running Shoes

Not always; I paid, for me, serious money, bought a pair of Asics and they fell apart. The heat seems to quickly degrade the materials and the adhesives used to stick the various components of the shoe together. I have had brand name trainers in the UK that have lasted for years, but once exposed t...

Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc

A reputable insurance company should have a 14 or 30 day cancellation policy, whereby provided you have not made a claim, the policy can be cancelled and a refund obtained, less some admin charges.

This would enable someone to obtain their visa before cancelling the policy.

Re: Thailand tourist slump continues

We normally spend 6 months a year in Thailand, my wife is Thai and I'm on a retirement visa. We were in Thailand this year when the Covid thing kicked off and we decided to leave earlier than planned once restrictions for travel were tightening up. We left in March on one of the last flights out. We...
