Re: What Do You Feed Your Dog

I love it how how dogs show their personalities and enthusiasm for the things they love most in life and it's so good to see them happily sniffing out the exact same places every day as excited as a kid having its first day out at Thorpe Park. By the way, has anyone seen the big fat scarred mangey m...

Re: What Do You Feed Your Dog

Sadly I don't even have a dog but I'm enjoying reading this thread and picturing all your lovely canine companions (I think I need to get out more) and I'm wondering if alternating rice with cooked oats could be something to try. Just looked up a few sites and general consensus is a moderate quantit...

Re: Potential Retirement Location - renting in Hua Hin

I live in Heights 2 on Soi 156, a couple of km south of a Khao Tao. I reckon it's a nice little estate of pool villas, with a small 24-hour Tesco and a PTT gas station a couple of minutes away (very handy for my 'drive of shame' ciggies and beer runs), plus Thaiwaii bar and two or three decent local...

Re: Restaurant for wedding anniversary

What cuisine appeals most to you, what's your budget, and do you fancy somewhere central or a little out of town?

Re: Taxi from bus station in the early hours?

That was my first thought, johnjar - unfortunately my regular taxi guy isn't up for working at that time in the morning and I don't know any other who would be :(

Taxi from bus station in the early hours?

My house guest's offspring will arrive from Krabi at the bus station - presumably the one near Bluport where they left HH from a few days ago - at around 02.00 Friday morning and will need transport to Soi 156. How likely are they to grab a taxi or tuk tuk there in the early hours? I'll be unable to...

Re: New drivers must take longer theory training

Yes, the woman at Pranburi Transport Dept told me last week that I could apply for a new licence 60 days before my current one expires, so I got it done as I'll be away in December and had a free day yesterday. A pretty painless process - pleasant, helpful staff and a bonus that my new licence's val...

Re: New drivers must take longer theory training

I renewed my initial (two-year) driving licence today at Pranburi. Arrived upstairs at 08.20 this morning with: * Residency letter from Immigration Dept - got that last week @B500 * Medical certificate from a walk-in Pranburi doc - got that on Saturday morning @B100 * Current driving licence (expiry...

Re: Hammock for a hefty porker

Thank you! I'll trundle down there. (And I hope I didn't come across as judgmental about larger bodies - nothing wrong with carrying a bit of weight for sensible reasons, like beer and good food.)

Hammock for a hefty porker

I'd like to take a hammock back to the UK for my friend, as he fondly recalls lolling in one for a couple of hours on a beach holiday in Thailand a few years ago. I think it might have been one of those colourful stringy nylon(?) ones I saw in markets a few years ago. Thing is, I guess he weighs at ...

Re: Liver Tonic

Turmeric is supposed to be a great liver healer, 'though apparently the dose would need to be fairly hefty to gain any benefit. Maybe worth researching on Google;naresh/dried cheap as chips here, e.g. Makro. What worked for me (though quite possibly placebo effect?) was milk thistle tablets. Somehow...

Irregular printer use = can't print

Apologies for boring post/if this has already been covered... How do you stop your desk top printer ink from drying out or the nozzles seizing up or whatever happens to stop the printer working when you don't use it often enough? My IT guy attached a tank thingy to my printer with economy sized inks...

UV fabric protector?

Hi, does anyone know if there's a spray (or wash) I can buy here that will help to protect my brightly colored cushion covers on outdoor furniture from fading in the sun? Ta in advance for any suggestions.
