Re: A bit of nostalgia (Motor Show 1968)

My Father worked in the motor industry for his whole life and I have memories of going to Motor Shows at Earls Court as a kid. It would have been a bit later than that, early to mid seventies and also at the NEC Birmingham in the late seventies. I remember seeing the Lotus Esprit from the Bond movie...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

Incidentally, it makes a change to actually finally have some discussion on electric cars on the EV thread instead of endless posts from people who clearly have no interest in them. It's a bit like the camping thread being full of posts from people saying they only stay in hotels, or a search for ta...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

I saw a few BYD Seals when I was back in January and it looks pretty impressive. I like the Atto 3 but it's a bit expensive for a local runabout which is what I want. If BYD launch an Atto 2 in Thailand next year, I'll probably go for that, or failing that, the higher performance version of the Dolp...

Re: Thai law prohibits foreigners from driving passengers.

^ I think working as a driver is a banned occupation under the Foreign Employment Act. I'm presuming that is what the problem was here, not just driving with passengers.

Re: Google Maps

This article explains what has happened to Google Maps, certainly in Europe anyway. It still exists as before but it doesn't come up in search results: Google Maps is over! The Tech giant complies with the injunctions of the European Union by removing the presence of its navigation service in search...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

^That's why Chinese EV's are such a good deal in Thailand.
As to a local factory, it's supposed to be operational this year.
To be able to import tax free, they have to move to local production within a certain time frame, I think it was either two or three years.

Re: Flights to/from Thailand status, news, and updates

^ Didn't British Airways used to fly Gatwick-Bangkok in the past as well as from Heathrow?
I remember that some years ago I spent several hours in The Wetherspoons pub in Crawley while in transit back to Luxembourg and I think it was after a BA flight from Bangkok.
