Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

As a fence sitter I find the various arguments interesting and often very blinkered. There seem to be a few points missed (perhaps purposely) in points raised. As battery technology advances I don't see why some kind of adaptor could not be used to fit newer smaller but equally or more powerful/long...

Re: Flights to/from Hua Hin Airport & other domestic locations

I see that the BP is talking about Hua Hin airport again today and mentioning international flights. https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/2624691/airport-in-hua-hin-to-be-expanded As usual for the BP some information is doubtful or confusing. They must have had a licence for international fl...

Re: Problems with rats

The best bait at our house has been bread. Good old cheap Thai steam baked bread, white or wholemeal without anything on it. Used in the trap as mentioned we have caught rats and mice regularly.
Our most productive spot is in the ceiling space but anywhere where it is dark and they can scurry around.

Re: Keto diet and low carb eating

Keto worked for me but was not always easy to adhere to working on ships. Now I have found intermittent fasting to be very effective and a lot easier to do.

Re: Same day alcohol test

It seems the answer is no which comes as no surprise. Turns out an audit is in the offing hence company being slightly anal. Parted with just over two thousand baht at San Paulo for a blood test with the result in three days by email which ticks the box.

Same day alcohol test

Due to an oversight I did not get alcohol included in my annual drug test the other day at a hospital in Bangkok. This was the usual test from a sample of urine and the result can back within hours of providing the sample. It came as no surprise that when I approached both San Pauloand Bangkok hospi...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

Good to see that points are being raised and countered rather than developing into a slanging match. If I was in the market for a new vehicle I would consider an EV and make a balanced decision. As it is my three year old PPV will continue to be used until it would be cheaper to replace it again tak...

Re: Extreme jealousy in Thai relationships

All these gun comments detract from the original issue which the OP seems to be addressing carefully. I tend to agree that finding a friendly policeman to have a word may help initially. Should he not receive the message clearly then with this being Thailand it would not be that difficult or expensi...

Re: Thai spellings of street names

Just another indication that Thailand needs an official transliteration in the same way pinyin is used for Chinese. While there would be disagreements on it for sure, a standard method would help non Thai readers. While I advocate learning to read Thai for those who stay here a long time it is not g...

Re: Thailand tourism situation

Was on Chiang Mai over the weekend and it looked quiet which was confirmed by my son who works as a grab driver there. Back in Hua Hin it is obvious that it the low season has arrived just by looking how quiet Starbucks and Market Village is. There do seem to be more Chinese tourists who are not kno...

Scooter without cramped seating position

Is there such a thing as a scooter of around 125cc which a 176cm tall person can ride comfortably. In the past most seats were single level and you could slide back a bit farther but most newer ones seem to have a stepped seat which makes this uncomfortable. They all seem to be made for shorter peop...

Re: Thailand IT - Tail Wagging the Dog

When darts computers appeared in pubs it became obvious that mental arithmetic was on the wane. I can credit darts to speeding up my thinking immensely while increasing my alcohol tolerance.

Re: Solar power setup for your home in Thailand

All of this is interesting and confusing at the same time. The ROI times seem to vary but there are few quotes of what the up front investment was. Probably quite substantial and beyond the means of most Thais. If a development like city88 had solar installed as standard during the build phase would...

Re: Full Suspension MTB little support in Thailand

Thanks Dannie Boy, I think they generally deal with the cheaper end of the market. There just seems to be a dearth of major brands in Thailand which I put down to the full Susser’s being too expensive for the majority of Thais and mtb’ing not. Ring popular. Not surprising when you can get a scooter ...

Full Suspension MTB little support in Thailand

Given the condition of the roads and lack of fencing once away from town Thailand lends itself to trail/mountain bikers and while hard tails are common there is unfortunately little support for those of us who choose the full suspension path. Many bring their bikes in from abroad due to what is alre...
