Re: End of story
It was a cobra. It flared its hood. HHS Oh! Just as well you didn't listen to me then. Sorry to hear he's gone to that snake pit in the sky, but you really had no option. Kilbirnie: I loved your observations of your dogs. We used to have four dogs, all with different abilities and reactions...

Lawnmower repairers...
We have a pretty impressive (and quite expensive) electric lawn mower in Ferrari red. Unfortunately, it has a few electrical problems. It basically needs a makeover and a bit of TLC. Does anyone know of a lawnmower fixer - I think we need electical rather than mechanical expertise. Thanks in advance...

I'm no expert on this, but if you'd like your children to go to a European university then they need to study in a school that follows the UK curriculum (GCSE's and A Levels) or International Baccalaureate (IB). The Thai school system (with an English programme) only equips them for Thai universitie...

Interesting article L., I always thought that there may be some aerodynamics involved. Our dining table in our 'kitchen' area is in a lovely three-walled building, which is perfect for the climate. We do, however, get quite a lot of gheckos on the ceiling, above the dining table, while we're eating....

Have you got a net - for your pool? If you try and fish it out with a net, I'm 99% sure it won't try to escape. It will just freeze, and you can put it in a bucket with a lid and take it somewhere else, outside your garden and away from other problems. You could, alternatively, just leave it. It mig...

Richard, It was bigger than me, and it did taste just like chicken. OK, the gist of my PS was that if someone (like Dawn) can make the little stray feel a smidgeon better, than that's great. I know you're from Yorkshire, and I know that you pride yourself on calling a spade a spade, or a stra...

Yeh, Richard. When I went on holiday to Australia I wrestled with a crocodile, and won (obviously). VS PS: If you have an irritating complaint, like itchy skin (which can make you feel lousy), and if someone can help you with that - and make you feel better, that's quite nice. You're still wandering...

I totally agree with Dawn - a whistle wouldn't have helped this lass. It's a dreadful thing to happen to anyone, and it could (and does, witness the young girl in Goa) happen anywhere in the world. I may be shot down in flames, but what the heck was she doing alone on a remote beach? She was only 27...

Looks to me like an Indo-Chinese Rat Snake, although it's difficult to truly identify it from a photo. Totally harmless, and probably absolutely petrified being stuck in an empty water tank. Suggestion: If you can tip the tank on one side, you would then give it the opportunity to escape, it would a...

I think I know the dog K is talking about. We were in Hua Hin a few days ago and I saw a pathetic looking dog around about that area. Not such a small dog, I would say medium Thai size, but with terrible mange and he/she (didn't check sex) was standing quietly by the pavement at about 3.30pm (before...

Do I detect a bit of fear factor here? And/or a bit of paranoia (those nasty Thais are all out to get us...)? Parahandy and I have lived here for over 10 years and have used the local shops with their large bottles (10 baht) of water. We've got a cute little cradle for it, so I (as a poor weak femal...

Democracy does not work in Thailand. I know this sounds like a sweeping statement, but after having yet another hugely frustrating meeting (with Thais) it's true. If you're in power you dictate (very happy dictator), if you're not in power you don't have to make decisions (very happy followers). Why...
