Re: Hua Hin Supermarkets

My experience is a little different. If I have my red Makro card which was issued in a personal name but as a business, no proof required of business, I can go to the check out and no passport required, never has been. If I do not have my card I go to the desk and give my phone number, again never h...

Sorry but here's another off topic post. I'm waiting for a standard letter posted in UK on 30th April, exactly a month ago. They normally take between 2 and 3 weeks but this is the first 4 week wait.
My last letter to the UK, sent registered, took 6 weeks. :cuss: :cuss: :cuss: :cuss: :cuss:

Re: Electric Cars

In the UK it is simple, they have a lack of government budget, an over cumbersome almost impossible to comply with Environmental approval system, Just look at Heathrow 3rd runway which has been on the table for years but can never get approved. The UK has only recently stated it's 2040 objective to ...

Re: Bat Cave near Cha Am

I'm sure it was just a typing error, I was just winding the OP up. With my auto correct Hua often comes up as "Whore", maybe I use that word a lot so it seems like a good alternative.

Re: Electric Cars

In the UK the Grid operator has already calculated that 10 new Hinkey Point stations will be required just to cope with the increase in electric vehicles. Sadly none are approved, yet old coal and even gas plants are scheduled for closure. The UK now imports a substantial amount of electricity from ...

Re: Thailand has become new 'e-waste' dumping ground, police say

The only solution is to ban imports and exports of waste and make each county that produces the waste responsible for recycling it.

Re: Electric Cars

So it seems if you lose all you battery power and you are in the middle of nowhere in Isaan then you have to be towed to a hotel and book a room while the battery is charging, assuming you have your own cable. Not a very convenient way of travelling. I know in developed countries things will be diff...

Re: Yingluck gets 10-year visa from UK

Now that the Junta knows she has a visa for the UK, if she actually does, they can now formally start the process for extraditing her. Although I doubt that would get very far in the UK. They wouldn't have much of a chance, it would get a political offence exception. "Ingrained in most internationa...

But how do you charge it if totally flat and you are in the middle of Isaan. I guess you would have to be towed to somewhere that has an adequate facility

Re: Pros and Cons of Colonization

Perhaps an Aussie could comment on Oz and its convict past. I believe that it is now thought that the importance of its convict influence has been overstated. At the time that the last convict ship arrived in Aus the population was about a million. The total number of convicts imported was 168,000 ...

Re: Electric Cars

Here's a question for anyone who has knowledge of electric cars.

How do you start a fully electric car that has a flat battery, can it be jump started from a standard 12V car?

Strange that the only source for this news is BBC Thai, while it is reported on many sites the source is always BBC Thai. BBC world service has no reference to it.
Is it true, who knows

Re: GBP vs THB

One good point if selling up here and moving back to the UK is you would get a lot more GBP for your Baht.
