thanks, dm.
On reflection, a better answer to sargeant's question, as opposed to 'it compares very well', would have been 'it sounds about right' - 50% extra rent for an additional 2 bedrooms sounds pretty much on the ball for most rentals in most places I can think of!

Re: Cost of living
OK Thanks to everybody for all your responses. Re the accommodation yes it's furnished - I wouldn't consider the hassle of an unfurnished property, the location is about half way between Khao Takiab bay and Khao Takiab village so pretty much within walking distance of both. The beedroom and living r...

Re: Cost of living
Thanks for the link and the info. I'm not worried about mobile internet. A 6Mb line would be speed aplenty, but reliability is a bit of a concern. What about dedicated leased lines? Does anybody know if these are available?

Cost of living
Hi guys, quick question to get an idea of the actual cost of renting a property in Hua Hin, ie Rent and running costs. I am aware of what sort of properties can be found and what the monthly rentals are but what of the additional costs? Do tenants have to pay any form of council tax, for instance? T...

Re: Working in Thailand for a UK company
Somebody suggested it might be worth seeking advice from UK based charities or other NGOs who have sent people out to Thailand in the past to do relief work. Aside from the issue of money changing hands, they must be pretty much in the same situation - People 'working' in Thailand for a UK organizat...

Re: Working in Thailand for a UK company
Well luckily this would all be 'behind closed doors'; there would be no public airing of work. The problem I have with doing it on a tourist VISA and just hoping I don't get caught is the possible repercussions. Spending a night in a cell and being deported would be savage enough; but wouldn't that ...

Re: Working in Thailand for a UK company
Hi everybody thanks for all the replies. It seems that the situation is about as irritatingly complex as I expected. Can anybody recommend the names of any good legal firms who I could consult about this; either in bkk or Hua Hin? I don't really like the idea of just doing it on a tourist VISA and k...
