Re: An extreme drought is wreaking havoc in Thailand
I posted before but it didn't register so here it is again. A few nights ago the PM did his weekly speech on TV in Thai with subtitles. He stressed very strenuously that's farmers must diversify their crops and stop planting more and more rice, rubber, and some other crops, the reasons were simple. ...
Re: U-Turns
U turns work perfect if the road is designed correctly and drivers follow the rules. Here U Turns are not designed correctly, there should not be U Turns for both directions at the same location, once a car stops from the opposite direction you can no longer see without creeping out and we all know ...

Re: Employment for disabled people
In December I was in Buri Ram, what a different place compared to HH, so well developed, big smooth roads wide clear sidewalks in many areas. I wonder why HH is so poorly developed compared to other places. I to have a duff ankle right now and walking in town is a pain, never a ramp on a side walk, ...

Employment for disabled people
Living in HH can be a real pleasure for most of us but I have often thought how difficult it must be if one is disabled or even temporarily have limited mobility. It is just about impossible to use a wheelchair on any of the pavements (sidewalks for Americans) which are continually occupied by infor...

Re: Foreign tourists could be charged $10 for entering Thailand
Many countries do the same or similar; UAE now charges a per night fee for visitors; Qatar charges a one off entry fee which must be charged to a credit card, no credit card no entry; Indonesia charges an exit fee.
Is it a big deal? Not really as long as one knows before hand.

Re: Should I believe her?
A bit off topic however as far as speaking English the following is my position. Thailand as a country and most Thais are inward looking, care and know next to nothing about the rest of the world. English is not a compulsory language here, even though Thailand is now in ASEAN at the last joint meeti...

Re: Black Mountain Area - Shopping Mall?
Things on the BM side have grown VERY slowly over the last 8 years, compared to the rest of HH. I do wonder when it's all going to kick off on that side. ATM not many people seems to want to live out that way for some reason. 1. The roads to get to BM are pretty bad, pot holes all over, no lighting...

Re: Paying Water Bill
Thanks guys for the advice. I went this morning however they would not process the payment. I am on Pranburi water and this office is only for Hua Hin/Koa Takiab water. Lucky there is a do all service shop near me who does fax, copy, bookings etc, it turned out they also do lots of bill payments at ...

Re: Visiting Bali
Ubud is way to busy, the traffic is absolutely terrible, same for Tana Lot. Don't forget you have to pay an exit fee also, which must be paid in local currency which by the way you just exchanged for dollars.

Re: Illegal hotels/accommodation may face crackdown
The VAT is only charged at formal businesses, none of the smaller shops or street vendors charge VAT and pay nothing as tax. I doubt many restaurants charge VAT. Why should the larger Thai population be burdened with taxes when most of them are very poor? Because not all are poor, everyone has to c...
