Re: History Challenge
I was thinking of the various boffins at Bletchley Park who cracked the Enigma machines during WWII, notably Alan Turing, although he doesn't fit the Scottish descent or dates. Am I at all warm?

Re: Top Gear (Car Rugby)
Maybe I'm getting old, but I didn't find it amusing - two teams of five cars trying to play rugby at of all places Twickenham, but the most gauling bit for me was 10 severely dented cars, I just dont see the justification. Well, to each their own, it's entertainment and probably doesn't require jus...

Let's hope you get some enjoyment out of remote posting, as some of us have to resort to, I'm sure it won't be long until you're back in the LOS and absence apparently makes the heart grow fonder.

Re: Just finished my First Book! 'Beyond The Underworld'
Thank you to Mr Plum for spending the time to point out some of the errors, it's very generous of him. It's not that I don't want to help out, it's a matter of time and inclination. I agree with how well you are taking the feedback, it's a gift you are rightly thankful for.

Re: Just finished my First Book! 'Beyond The Underworld'
Good for you and congratulations on having it added to Amazon. I'm always impressed at those who are able to complete a book since although it's supposedly the case that we all have a good novel inside us, it takes a Herculean effort to commit it to paper. I'm not an author of novels and having read...

Re: What age to give your kids mobile phones?
It depended on need/convenience instead of age, I think around 10 and it was so she could call us and let us know when to collect her from some after school clubs. It was a pretty basic Nokia from Tesco's, now she's a 'screenager' and it would require a good surgeon to separate her from her (my old)...

Re: Recommend an offshore bank account
I used to have Lloyds TSB Off Shore (Isle of Man) but closed the account a few years ago when the tax rules were tightened and I simply didn't have enough cash to bother keeping it out of the country. For transferring money, the fee that banks charge is negligible compared with the hidden commission...

Re: POLL: How many forum members live in Hua Hin?
We have a house just outside HH, up in the hills, and aim to visit around three times each year with a five year plan (my daughter will be at Uni then) to split our life 50:50 between HH and the UK. The old adage is that 'home is where the heart is' and each time we visit it feels more like home. Th...

Quite. I know how you feel, copying a generic icon. Quite disgusting, what confusion it would cause. Of course it all needs to be different otherwise there's no innovation, it should never happen!BaaBaa. wrote:So you're saying Apple have copied the generic cog icon?
Not very innovative.

Re: iPad help for a dummy
Okay, my next question..........is it possible to download torrents on this iPad? Movies, music and etc? As the iPad is built, there's no storage as such, no 'hard drive' to save files to, so you have to use specific apps to store files for offline viewing. This is very common with files s...
