Re: Thailand general election fundamentally flawed: Human Rights Watch
Interesting little barb in the Bkk Post this morning, in an article about Burma. What's happening to Myanmar's coup and autocratic rule is a cautionary tale that subverted democracies can be regained and reinvented. Myanmar is a case not of democratic rollback but of autocratic reversal. The entren...

Old song หัวหินเป็นถิ่นมีหอย - Hua Hin ben tin me hoy (Hua Hin is a place with shellfish). Often shortened to Hua Hin me Hoy (Hua Hin has Shellfish).
Also used as a double entendre given the slang meaning of hoy.

It's always rainy season in our garden [emoji16]. Temperatures don't seem to be as low as in usual cool seasons though.

I don't know if it's worth starting a new thread for a new year yet. But these little buggers (ants probably) are back. Three evenings in a row now.

Re: 2-Step verification/authentication (2FA)
Where required I prefer to use Authy rather than Google authenticator. Backup and recovery is easier and also has a PC version. I'm looking into this and the Authy website sadly says: "The Authy Desktop app will reach their End-of-Life in Aug 2024. If you are downloading Authy for the first ti...

Went in one the other day and the only thing noticeably different from other convenience stores was the large amount of cases of carabao beer.

I'm not familiar with these stores, but they seem to be very specialized in training/nutrition/diet/health. Am I right or wrong?

I won't dispute a word of what you say. You get good and bad everywhere, and it sounds as if you hit a particularly terrible one. What intrigues me though is 'the young men in blue scrubs'. I've never come across these before, and my wife is a frequent flyer. Who were they? What was their purpose? ...

Re: Govt readies phone app for National Digital ID (NDID)
Binance.com works well, but its crypto only, no depositing or withdrawing fiat which is why you need a local exchange - which Thailand is in the process of blocking foreigners from using through its NDID requirements. Just found that out. There is p2p trading available in thb (using bank transfer a...

^^ Ah, my mistake. Anyway, I saw that Bitkub isn't doing foreigner KYC verification at the moment, which is why I gave up there.
I haven't tried to deposit any cash or crypto with binance com yet, but at least Thailand is not one of their forbidden countries.
Thanks for the clarification.

Re: Hua Hin and surrounding area full time foreign population
Perhaps anyone who is really, really curious about this could ask local immigration if they would very kindly count and reveal the number of foreigners who have long term permission to stay?
Answer would be: No we won't, probably.
