Re: Property in Hua Hin

Joe, while your math is correct, you forgot to include the devaluation of the value of the real estate. That X million doesn't have the same value after those years either. Regardless, I agree with you, real estate is the best investment you can make as long as you invest wisely.

I respectfully disagree. Having different cultural backgrounds make these relationships totally different and much more challenging.

Re: What glue holds farang-thai couple relationships togethe

I have to be honest, after having several girlfriends with much lesser education than mine, I finally hooked up with a missus from the same "class" and it's a big difference. The previous relationships didn't last long because we didn't have much in common. I have been married to my wife f...

Actually, Indian dishes like Vindaloo, Korma, Curry, etc., are much better when they are not freshly made!

Re: Property in Hua Hin

One thing you need to know: the real estate agencies in HH sell their own listings, there is no Multiple Listing Service (MLS) there. Accordingly, you should contact as many real estate agencies as you can in order to see what's on the market. Based on my own "real estate tour" there it is...

Re: Cost and value of massage at Sofitel

Why pay triple than necessary? You can get a massage right across the street at the Thai Orchid and they will even go to your room to do the massage if you want it there.

Well, I have spent a whole week doing nothing else but looking at condos both in Hua Hin and Cha Am, but I obviously do not have enough information about other fac...

Will look up Palm Hills as we respect your opinion... Jimmy I'm sure there are better qualified people than me to give you input on this forum, and I know "quality" has a different meaning to everyone. Please note that Palm Hills is totally different than the Samudra, it's a golf course s...

Re: Commission rate to property agent on private sale

^ Wow Migrant, is that just Southern Cal or the whole U.S. now? When I sold my (4) homes in California, Oregon, and Florida, the rate was 3% (per agent), as it was when I went to real estate school (in Florida as a back-up profession). I'm pretty sure it's standard. That was presented to us in Main...

Re: Jimmy Canuck update re buying a condo in Hua Hin/Cha Am

You are doing the right thing, if you are not 100% comfortable with the decision than you shouldn't proceed. One of the most important thing is to remember the "6% guaranteed rental income" is not guranteed regardless of whatever they tell you. Good exampe is the scandal at The Banyan Reso...

Had a frozen margarita, it had harmony, sweet and sour with a nice rim of salt. The way to go. Only beginners drink frozen margaritas, the alcohol will start separating as soon as it's poored into the glass. Drink it on the rocks! BTW, if you guys can get your hands on a bottle of "Familia Cam...

Malaysia has been really smart with their MM2H program and IMHO all the other countries in the area should follow that formula. In regards to the other parts of the world, Panama is right up there too.
