Re: Scooter day trips

You can ride for free, but as soon as you visit one of the many attractions, you have to pay the National Park fee. Once you've paid, hold on to your ticket, because that ticket will cover you for every attraction you visit that day.

Re: International Driver's License - Where, how fast?

It was a requirement, but I like you was wondering about the insurance needs. When I insured him, they wanted to know about his International Driving Permit, and were adamant that cover could not be extended beyond 12 months. I know a lot of Thais who are driving on International Driving Permits in ...

Re: Where to stock up on household goods?

As I said, I don't, but there's usually somebody filling up at the freebie on 94, and a fair proportion are Farang.

At the end of the day, do we know what is good and what is bad? Does a Singha or Chang label make the water any better? I buy it, but I certainly don't know.

Re: Renting a wedding dress in Hua Hin?

I know of 2 wedding places. One is next door to 77 Coffee, Soi 77 as you go South along Petchkasem (almost opposite the bus station) The other is on your right as you go towards Hin Lek Fai from the crazy railway crossing. Don't turn right along the Pala-U Road, but go straight ahead. The shop is ab...

Re: International Driver's License - Where, how fast?

The above statement was not true when my son-in-law visited the UK. I checked it out at the time, and an International licence was definitely a requirement. Of course, that was 10 years ago, so things may have changed.

Re: Where to stock up on household goods?

There's a place on Soi 94 where a chap has a huge filter unit on his outside wall, and you can fill up your bottles for free. There's also a free place in front of Chatchai Market, Petchkasem Road side but I'm not sure whether you can draw off any large volume. I've never tried either, but the one o...
