Re: New immigration form (TM6) goes into effect in October

Note: Go ahead and lose one sometime and see the BS you have to go through to replace it. You would think you've lost a Top Secret nuclear weapon security clearance card. A couple of months ago I realised I had lost my TM card while standing in the immigration queue at Don Meuang waiting to get sta...

Re: The History of Southeast Asia

The scene in A Now where they eat with the French family was edited out of the original version. Later they released a 'Directors cut, about 20+min longer with that scene in. It really improved the movie, gave it some perspective. Could you please expand on what you're saying please. I was baffled, ...

Re: The History of Southeast Asia

Thanks for sharing. Recent readings about the British Empire in Asia has lead me to curiosity about the French Colonization of Indo China, and I always wondered what was the true story behand that sequence in the move Apocalypse Now with the French farmes/Settlers in Laos, where Captain Willard (Mar...

Re: Desford Colliery Band World Tour.....and Hua Hin!

I belive it will be a great event. Unfortunately I will not be in LOS until July. Brass bands have a great spread in my native country Norway, culiminating with performances accross the country on the Norwegian National Day celebration at May 17th every year. They provide the music and rythms to the...

Re: Sir Roger Moore dead at 89

RIP - I loved all of his Roles, including The TV show with Tony Curtis after The Saint (SImon Templar) and the Sea wolves that leap year when there was no James Bond movie Now I think I remember the show he did after the Saint with ROny CUrtis - I think it was called "The Persuaders". I w...

Re: New Hua Hin Immigration office at Bluport

Just popped in and literally no customers. 5 staff, all very friendly. They do 90 day reporting, but don't do the yearly renewal. Good coffee outside, but I can never see having to wait that long to have enough time to get one. Can see HH immigration being the envy of the rest of Thailand ! Give it...

Re: Hua Hin resort to rebrand as Mövenpick

I have fond memories of Møvenpick from the years I lived in Switzerland in my youth, the location of its new establishment suits me - with family we usually stay in Dusit Thani, Møvenpick sounds like an atractive alternative. I will try it out

Re: Fishermans Restaurant

Dundrillin, thanks for this. I usually go to HH every ear and one of the nights we eat at one of the outdoor fish restaurants at the pier. Often it is with wife's family, in 2016 it was with another family who are friends of ours in Norway, the wife/mother is from Cambodia married to a Norwegian. In...

Re: Why do so many Thais look down on tourist / foreigners?

You ask--Is there some kind of racism going on? Of course there is. It is part of Thainess. In all fairness this is not justa Thai thing but an Asian thing--they feel no shame at having and expressing racist/xenophibic attitides-- In Japan, Korea and China it is much the same. I very good point and...

Re: Where did you meet your girlfriend or wife?

I met my Thai at our boxing gym. We both fight Muay Thai. We were together almost a year and everything was great.. before he cheated on me with some cute, young and naiive thai girl. Most Thai men are not good and do women dirty. I've been with a couple and befriended many and, for the most part, ...
