He came in for heavy criticism in the UK press at the time. Updated reports show he had been suffering from and being treated for depression prior to the tsunami. It appears and seems supported by medical witnesses that he had accidentaly OD on "sexorat" - hope thats the right spelling, bit ironic r...

I'd better be careful what I say as I have already had a pm about this from the guys in charge - all very friendly, mind you. I hope I'm not revealing state secrets by saying the pp has been approached for sponsorship and was negative. So how about any of those that stay there as a result of the inf...

I'll tell you something, I have read so much about bloody "kebabs" on various threads over the last few months, that they had better be up and running in April!!! I'd feel cheated if they weren't.

Nowt like a good kebab and good kebabs are not easily found in my part of town.

I got conflicting information on break-ins back in August. The agents invariably said, "no, doesn't happen", but one owner I visited on an "estate" not too far South, Thai and farang occupied, said that there had been 3 to his knowledge on that particular development. Needless ro say, as he was look...

Forgot to mention, you're on the road heading to the beach - turn right as you leave the hotel and its 3 minutes walk and you're in the centre of town.

When I first came to HH, I stayed in expensive. The Hilton before it was the Hilton and family stayed in the Sofitel. All v. good, but soon worked out it wasn't worth it - well the Sofitel is. But expensive. Ita an outdoor type of place. Try the ppvilla. I hate giving this out, but it was recommende...

Bloody Geordies, you would have thought those pricks would have got a home win against Middlesbro .... tossers! Arsenal, Geordies????????????????? Are we in the wrong season here. I sat and watched, with great enjoyment, Arsenal (Cockneys just about) beating a far from Geordie team called Middlesbo...

The Observer in the UK also ran a 3 page spread on Samui, it started with some generalisations (the scene is worse than Patpong etc.) but then interviewed tourists, islanders, an ex-pat (2 years) and a Thai businessman. The general feeling seemed to be it was out of control there, development, turf ...

I think griping about agents will always happen. I discuss them with my neighbour in the UK and relate different experiences we have heard about - we're both thinking of longer term plans. I think its the same in HH and people will have different experiences with different agents. I thought Jaimes p...

Mike picked up on the topic of Estate Agents. As an aside I went into an estate agency opposite the Hilton, next to the massage place, last time I was in Hua Hin. Out of interest I asked if they could let me know what the current going rate was for a property like the one we have, in its location. ...

Thats okay, but the package tours to HH from the UK - at least - do not pour from the brochures, if at all. The Regent nearer Cha-am is a regularly featured cheaper option and most will feature the Sofitel and a few of the spa places - not cheap. So I guess that most families that come are those tha...

On the mozzie front, has anyone heard that eating sweet food attracts the little blighters? Seemingly, they're attracted to the sugar on your breath.
