Re: Plant nursery

Hi, I don’t know the name of it but this one's good. Going north from town towards Cha Am, do a u-turn at Index (so you’re going back into Hua Hin direction) and pull in immediately after the Hafele showroom - you’ll be outside the garden centre', on your left. The Thai guy there is extremely knowle...

Re: being stuck with the cleaner who comes with the house

Owners' perogative and understandable if they’ve been 'burnt' before, sure, but perhaps they’d save wasting potential tenants' time by stating this requirement very clearly right from the start.

MDMK, I hope you find somewhere pretty much perfect, soon, and more fool them for being so intransigent!

Re: Houmous

Hi, I haven’t seen or looked for ready-made hummus, or jars of tahini, but if you have a blender it's quick and easy to make tahini. Lots of online recipes, and thankfully sesame seeds are dirt cheap here.

Well done, and I’m wishing all the very best to baby and family.
Can’t say I wish the same for the prick on the Phantom.

Re: Help: Sending UK marriage cert. to Thai embassy in London

Just a heads up: the High Court in Hong Kong has twice tried to return my marriage certificate to me here, by Registered Post, and although I was at home on both dates the postman couldn’t be arsed to ring my doorbell and my certificate got returned to HK. Result: I have to make a trip back there in...

Re: Bangkok's hidden train repair yard keeps Thailand on its rails

Hhfarang, thanks for the link, and I hope to have a shufti around there before long. Kind of coincidentally, I’d only just finished the last pages of The Railway Man by Eric Lorax less than a couple of hours before I saw your post so it was especially interesting to read in the link about the two Ja...

Re: Table lamp fittings

I think I know the dusty old shop in town that should stock these but I hesitate to try to guide you there as I’m like Stevie Wonder in a snowstorm with directions. I’m sure other people will provide the info you need in the next day or so but if not I will drive there in next couple of days and pos...

Praise for HH Police

I had pest control in to the house to do their monthly service and immediately after they’d left I realised my iPhone was missing. I tracked it using the FindMyPhone app (it was 17km away in a house one of them was staying at), the manager implored the obvious culprit (new kid who’d just started wit...

Door shop location

Back in March last year NOKYAI mentioned a door shop on the Pala u road. Does anyone’s know the name of it? I’m hoping I'll have a better chance of finding it using google maps as I'm unfamiliar with that area of Hua Hin and, based on my uselessness at following directions, I suspect I won’t find it...

Bluesky, big thanks! Really good of you. Your set-up looks like it'd work well for me so I’ll order the bracket and give it a go.

Re: Dash Cam Can Really Save You Cash Cam

Thanks all for suggestions so far.
FWIW, it’s an hp f310 (@B8,790) so probably not the cheapest unit and I’d prefer not to bin it.

I’m thinking that the UV film Honda put on my HRV probably isn’t a suitable surface for the suction thingie, as it falls off every bloody day, especially in the heat. I’ve cleaned the screen with rubbing alcohol, moved it around, and it still falls off. How do you keep your dashcam stuck on the wind...

Re: NHS treatment back in the UK if resident in HH?

Probably not that relevant to this thread at this point p - or much comfort to us expats from the UK when we can’t get the NHS benefits for hutch we've paid our NI contributions - but just for some context I do think it's a bit of a red herring when your typical Daily Mail/Sun/Telegraph reader bangs...

Re: Desiccant sachets for food?

Thank you mwbrown, got them in Daiso today and they’re exactly what I was after. I've used these ones before and found that a couple of them tucked in a lock'n'seal box definitely helped to keep biscuits or crackers from going soft for the couple of weeks or so until I finished the packet. 😊
