Re: Driving: why Thai’s “back in”?

Actually, Makro is one of the few places I don't reverse. Originally it was because I couldn't see what traps (trolleys) numbskulls had just dumped in the way. These days, it is quite hard to offload the wheelchair if I reverse in. Parking in car parks if shopping I reverse in, to load shopping in ...

Interesting, being the driving test is based on the highway code, could you advise which ones are not law?

Re: Why Thai’s “back in”?

Not sure about other countries but in the UK it is illegal to reverse onto a road. Only from a side road into a main road - not from your own driveway, at least according to the extracts from the Highway Code that have been quoted. Rule 201 [...] When using a driveway, reverse in and drive...

Re: Driving: why Thai’s “back in”?

The highway code rule 201 gives guidance on reverse parking. It does state where you can. how ever reversing out of a drive is impossible following the rule 202 Rule 201 Do not reverse from a side road into a main road. When using a driveway, reverse in and drive out if you can. Rule 202 Look carefu...

Re: Driving: why Thai’s “back in”?

Out of idle curiosity, I just did a Google image search of some UK housing and nearly every car is parked on the drive nose in so it's definitely not normal practice to reverse in. About 20 years ago, next door to my drive was a lorry obstructing my view, I pulled slowly out to before I could see u...

Re: Why Thai’s “back in”?

I'll admit that I'm not the world's greatest driver, I don't even bother owning a car in Europe but it makes no sense to me, the road is large and the parking space small, it's much easier to reverse out into the road when you leave than into the parking space when you arrive! Not sure about other ...

Re: (Don't) Wear a Mask Debate

Perhaps they are intelligent and well educated and wear masks to protect others, :banghead: If 95% of the Thai population had covid, I'd agree. Unfortunately they don't, so sorry, I don't. :banghead: As far as I know 95% have not had covid, in fact only 4,736.512 have had covid. Which means only 6....
