Extend AIS validity cheaply
I know this has been dealt with in another thread indirectly ( http://huahinforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=31094&p=399712&hilit=ais+extend#p399506 ) but it may be more easily located as a direct thread. I followed cookie's advice today and extended my backup sim by four months and in the...

Re: Is Suvarnabhumi airport security stricter right now?
In a word. No.
Went to Philippines just over a week ago and came back Monday. Outwardly there was no difference to my untrained eye. Needless to say I was not worried as I was within limits.

Re: Do Thai people have and/or feel a sense of embarrassment?
Unfortunately very few signs. Not just a Thai thing but more an Asian cultural aspect. The Hulk is just a pussycat compared to my missus if she loses it. Resistance is futile, just run away because heavy or sharp objects are the tools of choice! But seriously though, I have had personnel try to stab...

Re: Do Thai people have and/or feel a sense of embarrassment?
They certainly do but you don't want to be near them if it shows as they are not able to express it calmly. When it comes out and is visible it usually takes the form of violence. They generally keep it bottled up until it explodes.

Re: Wot, no tonic?
Thanks for the advice. Went to Hin Lek Fai and they had none on the shelves or in the fridges. Asked at the counter and initially was going to get a "mai mee" after telling them the shelves were empty but suddenly the other girl asked if I was looking for a case and produced one from behin...

Re: Wot, no tonic?
I realise this is an old thread but found myself traipsing around looking for Schweppes or any tonic water today as one of my nephews quaffed my last tin and I felt like a g+t. Local 7-11, no. Tesco express Pala U road, no. Big C, no. Ended up getting the last three cans in the fridge in Gee An Deun...

Re: What is the real reason you wear a seatbelt?
A good point by prcscct. Perhaps a door that is not shut properly is a threat to others be they pedestrians or other road users while the seatbelt is personal protection. Shows which item takes precedence. Is it just here that the truck type vehicles do not have the alarm fitted.

What is the real reason you wear a seatbelt?
There are lots of reasons for wearing a seatbelt with the commonly quoted ones being personal safety, legal requirement or have just got into the habit. The latter will apply to many but is this really true. I thought I was part of the latter group but my new truck has made me think again. It is mod...

Re: Constant noise pollution
Due diligence should apply anywhere in the world so lack of it does not get a lot of sympathy. Had the property been bought prior to development taking place around it then it is unfortunate but I would think that the property value has risen considerably. Whatever the OP's situation it sounds like ...

Re: Constant noise pollution
Noise will always be an issue but to ease it try moving farther away from the train tracks and noisy streets.

Foam pipe insulation/swimming aid?
I have made a cycle rack for the back of my truck using 1" plastic pipe and am trying to find some soft foam pipe insulation to put on the section that may come into contact with the cab to protect the paintwork. As usual the response at Watsadu was a "Mai mee" but unusually a similar...

Re: Car accessories
I am looking to get an intelligent charger and foresee having to use Lazada as not seen any here. Has anyone ventured into the car place on Petkasem northbound I think after Venezia but not sure. We could do with a halfords type place but it is unlikely as it seems that only daft Foreigners work on ...

The "foot" handbrake is common to many Mercedes Benz models although I think nowadays they are the electronic ones that release as you start to pull away.

Re: Flight to Thailand bargains
Checked out direct flights to UK last month and ended up getting a return leaving early December and returning early Jan for just under thirty thousand baht. By using the EVA site instead of the many search engines it is also flexible and cancellable rather than losing the lot if you cannot get the ...

Re: Thai Business Logic
Perhaps you should remove the word "business" and just try to understand Thai Logic or lack thereof. My observation is that learning is done by experience and reaction to visual stimuli rather than analysis. Business is making money so next door copies it. If an outsider can do it better p...
