Re: Best Vet in town?
Hi all, Great thread. Being a natural born pessimist I like to have a plan for everything, so I'm reading with interest. But I have a couple of questions. BB - the vet at the top of 56 Soi, is it fully 24 hour and do you have contact details, or do you just rock up? And would the mobile vet (phone n...

Re: Pet access to villa and saving my legs.
Hi Bluesky, Sorry to be so late thanking you for your info re pet flaps last month. My head is all over the place, as I'm still in rented accommodation waiting for my villa to be completed. I've just completely forgotten to log on to the forum. The info is excellent, thanks so much. I will definitel...

Re: Pet access to villa and saving my legs.
Our doors are very robust (more security style), and not suitable for everybody. We had them installed because we didn't like our flimsy mosquito screens. It would be very simple to fit a pet flap into our doors, and I'm sure our supplier would do it. If heavy duty is what you want, let me know, an...

Re: Pet access to villa and saving my legs.
The below link gives you the photos and idea. The problem now is to find a local screen supplier who can make it. Stay tuned for others later this morning who may have ideas where it can be done. Pete  https://www.google.co.th/search?q=screen+pet+door&num=20&client=opera&hs=XNd&...

Re: Poor GPS performance with AIS mobile
Thanks for the help guys, I appreciate the answers. The main point is that it's the same phone as when I was here in May, and the same places (HH main drag where I guess cell towers should be available. The only difference has been the AIS SIM. Thinking about it, there may be something in the car th...

Poor GPS performance with AIS mobile
I just moved to HH and have taken a postpaid AIS phone contract. Out of interest, no work or other visa needed to be shown, just passport page and bank book (I got the bank account last year on a tourist visa, I love the way rules are applied in this country!). Moving on - I went with AIS because I ...

Pet access to villa and saving my legs.
Hi all, Talk about first world problems, I have a lovey HH villa, with mozzie screens on all doors and a lovely pool to sit beside all day, but a dog that wants to be inside when she's out and vice versa. It's driving me nuts every five minutes, and the screens to the graveyard. Can a pet flap be in...

Re: Time of day for easiest journey BKK/HH (also back)?
you know, starting at midnight out of BKK/HH no traffic at all going south. same same the other way. I made it from BKK to HH in 2 hours 45 minutes with a crazy taxi driver and wide open roads. Weekends are hell. It can take 30 minutes sometimes just to get across HH. Again weekend traffic drops of...

Re: Time of day for easiest journey BKK/HH (also back)?
Be aware, there are roadworks, which always seem to delay the journey by about 30 minutes to an hour at the moment. Thanks Big Boy. By the way I just asked you in another thread about your limo service (not yours....) that does airport round trip for THB 2600. I could use that if I can book it toda...

Re: taxi service return
Big Boy where can you get a limo return for THB 2600 (50 GBP)?Big Boy wrote:No, definitely not. A limo would only be maximum £50 return (assuming you mean from airport).
I need to book today for my arrival tomorrow at the airport.

Re: Time of day for easiest journey BKK/HH (also back)?
Superb, thanks a lot. An Estate agent friend in HH told me after 10 am too, so I'm confident now (no public hols in June that I can see, May was crawling with them!) I also know that Sunday HH to BKK is bad because of the locals returning to BKK after their weekend break in HH.
Cheers!

Time of day for easiest journey BKK/HH (also back)?
Hi guys, I think I'm decided on using a taxi service to get to HH from BKK airport for a 4 day trip to HH. Even though to hire a rental car in HH is twice as much as in BKK, I don't want the drive down and back this time, nor use minibus or coach. On a weekday (Wednesday), what are the best times to...

Re: Train From Bangkok to HH
I read somewhere that there are sleeper carriages? It would be nice for somewhere to rest my back if the train or track breaks for hours. Is that what's meant by '1st class lower/upper berth with aircon'. If speed isn't of the essence then I guess train is a nice way to travel. The downside I can im...

Re: Advice please, villa purchase - freehold or 30 year lease?
Call it what you will, but the land is not freehold to any foreigner, even with a Thai company. (Amity agreement excepted) And the OP has stated that they are both British. HHtel understood me, the developer is a Thai company and they own the land, so they have the freehold. I didn't mean that a Br...
