Re: NHS treatment back in the UK if resident in HH?

That's correct VS. I also have a friend who went back to the UK for treatment and he had to pay. If you return to the UK for permanent settlement then you are entitled to treatment from the NHS otherwise .... No.

Re: Blue house book in your name

You were lucky. Bought my bikes from Honda and needed immigration letter. When I transferred a car from the original farang owner to my name, we both needed a letter from immigration. When you fill in the application for the letter at immigration, one of the options to select is 'purchasing of a mot...

Re: Blue house book in your name

Most are correct here but Norseman must have misunderstood somewhere along the line. The blue book is proof of address for a Thai and as such can be used for the purchase of a mc or car. The yellow book is proof of address for a non-Thai and can be used for the purchase of a mc or car. A non-Thai wi...

Re: Hello all. Newbie in Manchester.

I must be older than I thought. Never heard of scrub rounds, so had to google it, and I'm still not entirely sure! Do you mean ways to get round the rules? Welcome to the forum, by the way! Back in the navy we used it to 'not do' or 'ignore'. Scrub round doing this. or Scrub round doing that. "You ...

I agree BB. I don't know of anywhere with price increases like that. And as far as 'restaurants all gone', it's quite the opposite with more restaurants now than ever before.

Re: Blue house book in your name

If your wife is farang, I shouldn't think her name is in the blue book, unless the property is a condo. Either way, you are the statutory beneficiary. Unless it's a condo, you are not allowed to own land in Thailand.

Re: Blue house book in your name

Hi can anyone advise me how to put my name on the blue book for my house, my wife is no longer with us and her name is on the blue book I hope I'm not being indelicate but from your post, I assume your wife has died. If that is the case then you have 365 days to sell the house or it will be auction...

Re: Venues will now need licence for playing darts

You could not make this up,weird beyond belief. As Vital Spark mentioned cock fighting above. I recall my partner telling me about cock fighting in her village, when I asked why the police did not stop it she patted me on the head and with a sympathetic look informed me that is was held at the loca...

Re: New building Soi 112

If it is, they'll have a challenge getting people to drive that far for the 'MOT Test' when there are testing stations in HH.
It should be noted the the 'test' is pretty much a joke. Nothing like testing back home. Rolling road check for alignment and brakes plus emission check. That's about it!!

Re: Smoking ex-pats

Why is the % of British ex-pats who smoke so much higher than British people in Britain. I would guess: 1: It's a whole lot cheaper. 2. It's more socially acceptable. 3. The age of smokers here is much higher and a number are past caring. 4. Apart from health (see 3.) there is no real incentive. N....

Re: Smoking ex-pats

I agree VS. Plenty of incentive to give up in the UK. Maybe the government here will put cigarette prices up to 500 baht a packet. That's all the incentive I need!
