Re: The Impact of the Supalai Blue Whale Condo

When do you think that might happen? If ever. And where will those fortuners be parked? China is criss-crossed with HST. It is not difficult with the right equipment and experience. Most of the Fortuners will be parked where the pavement should be, but has not been constructed, because wealthy gove...

Re: The Impact of the Supalai Blue Whale Condo

I could also be argued that those same dog leg sois were already an eyesore in terms of uncontrolled urban sprawl, which is particularly apparent as you go up into the hills. I am sure that you already know of the most notorious case. There are already so many abandoned properties in that area. It i...

30 stories looks strange when it is by itself, but is much more comfortable when everybody is at a similar height.

Re: The Impact of the Supalai Blue Whale Condo

I did not make any claims with regards to its appearance. As for being in keeping, Hua Hin does not seem to have any kind of zoning or building regulations whatsoever, especially when you look at the hodgepodge of designs that have amassed over the years. I noticed a couple of similarly uninspired d...

Re: The Impact of the Supalai Blue Whale Condo

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I know a lot of old fashioned Brits who hate the Gherkin with a passion. Same for the O2. Some people just hate change. Anyway, we are not the target audience for this kind of development, and I personally am very happy that the next generation wants to celebrat...

Thank you for the heads up. The two stores were even busier than ever on Tuesday.

So just to confirm, these are not weed vaporisers like we used to DIY in the past?

The Impact of the Supalai Blue Whale Condo

Will a new 30 storey building with 500 plus units affect the local market? I see that facilities include a co working space. I hope that it is not sponsored by Wework. There is also a rhythm studio. No mention of a makerspace or a zero waste centre but these rich folks obviously have different prior...

Re: What's happened to the milk supply?

I am pretty staggered to learn that Thailand produces 3,500 tons of milk every day. That is much more than I expected. I was under the impression that the big long eared Asians were not ideal for milking. Do they have the popular milking breeds here too, in this climate? Also the promise of another ...

Both of these are available at AP foods.

I picked up tins of both and admired the distinctive designs fondly at the weekend. The guy must think I am some kind of weirdo. Maybe I should have explained the story.

Re: Ice cream in Hua Hin

I was down at Lotus's Pranburi today, and they had FIVE freezers full of ice cream, including one full of Pilot products, which you do not see all that often. I was looking for the new Walls Cheese Ice Cream, but found a double salted egg ice cream, which was just as delicious. It is great to see Th...

Re: Roses Lime Marmalade

Marmalade is a bit pricey for me. Has anyone found any good local alternatives? I am still looking for a good passion fruit curd, but no luck yet. May have to make my own. Got some pandan custard to try in the meantime.

Can confirm that the pineapple and durian popsicles are also out of this world. Rich, thick, creamy and one of the best bargains in Hua Hin!

My wife’s family is Cantonese, one was a chef, and they are quite particular. So I’m not saying this lightly.
So, what did you order and how much did it come to?

Re: Ice cream in Hua Hin

Last night, I found most amazing salaca, sweet gourd and passion fruit lolly in the freezer at Golden Place. After the overpowering sweetness of Lotte, Glico and Nestle, this was much more fruity. The tanginess was so good, I started looking round nervously for a big fat orange bloke and a camera cr...

Re: Golden Place Recommendations

Thank you. I had a good scour and found the ice cream and popsicle freezer at the back and chose the most amazing salaca, sweet gourd and passion fruit lolly!
A very nice find and I am now looking forward to trying the mango and pineapple flavours.
Best of all, only 19 baht each.
