Re: The Digital Surgery
We had a new ipad mini sent over from Thailand (it's a genuine apple one) for our son to use and he has got the hang of the basics already. Our problem is, it is all in Thai and I'm damned if I can find out how to change the language. I've looked in settings but can't spot what I need. Any help wou...

DM - it looks like some kind of stone hammer, perhaps for brave dentists to remove the teeth from a T-Rex..?

Re: Positive Experiences in Thailand
Correction: Substitute "DESK" for "counter" Not to worry Major B, both are acceptable. I'm not sure whether the forum subscribes to British or American English, or that terrible hybrid of International English. I'm just glad that it's English! :thumb: Now, where did I leave that...

Re: iPad help for a dummy
......For those people using a computer to access FaceTime, you may come across problems registering with the server, making it inoperable. This most commonly happens because your /etc/hosts file contains an IP address that is being blocked....... I can only assume seeing the above that they don't ...

Re: VPN server effects
Can someone in simple layman terms spell out the advantages/dis-advantages of VP usage please? One thing I noticed today was my Vuse downloads (17) were crawling along (1kB/s). My StrongVPN dropped out and an immediate increase in download speed (350kB/s). Any reason for this? I have the same probl...

Re: iPad help for a dummy
FaceTime is an Apple only video calling application (app) and will only work over WiFi or 3G networks in countries where Apple has an agreement with the 3G providers, so not all countries by any means. If you go to the App Store on your iPad and search for 'video calling' or something similar you wi...

Re: Airport VIP Bus to and from Hua Hin
An excellent service, I've used it in both directions now and it appears reliable and a good deal more comfortable than a taxi at a fraction of the price. The trip was around 2 hours and 45 minutes each way - much better than I expected - and with free water and a toilet on board, there's not much t...

It should be fairly straight-forward, as you say. In Amy case, PM sent - hope it works out.

Re: Easiest way to fix Zanussi oven timer?
Can anyone suggest where to find someone capable of fixing existing or supplying and installing new timer in a Zanussi ZOB22K built in oven? There's a guy I know who specialises in odd jobs of this nature. My dishwasher had packed-up (yes, an electric one before the slew of smart comments :neener:)...

I was looking forward to meeting you too, Mr Plum, and wish you a speedy recovery from the strep throat. We should look to get together when I'm next over for Songkran, if you don't mind a little water!

Re: HHForum Ten Year Celebrations
Indeed it was a great time and thanks so much to you, Terry, for hosting the whole event. Meeting people offline over a few cold ones is always more fun than tapping away at a keyboard and thanks to Buksida, Huahinian, DP, Major Bloodnok, Expat TV and especially dtaai-maai for making me feel so welc...

Re: Discontent with expat life in Thailand
Thank you for the background, Margaret, I can certainly see why those changes would cause discontent among some. Having met forum members at the Fishing Lodge last night, I am happy to report that from what I saw, there are still many expats who fit into the category you describe from when you lived...
