Re: Grocery shopping
The Tesco Express in Khao Takieb does have fresh fruit and vegetables, unlike the 7/11 next door. Okay! That's new to me! Didn't see any mini Tescos around last time. Do mean Family mart or 7eleven? Is it any near the Jamchuree condo? It's the big round high rise building just beside monkey mountai...

Gluten in thai food
Here's a tricky thing. Does anyone know is gluten and I mean precisely wheat flour commonly used in all the sauces? What about bread generally? Is it all wheat or could it be made for example from rice flour? We are not celiac but avoiding gluten because of my wife's bowl problems. Last time we were...

Re: Grocery shopping
Thanks! I didn't know about the CJ market! I visited Khao Takiab couple of years ago and it felt a little far off from all the bigger markets. There are only Family Marts near and they can be really expensive. I've been to Villa Market, it's also really expensive and I don't want all the imported st...

Re: A lot of BIG Jellyfish at the moment
Oh okay, sigh...what about beverages and all the little snacks? You cannot get them anywhere anymore? If we're talking about the beach on the south side of Khao Takiep, there's still a load of little restaurants and places to get drinks. Fear not. Yes, that what I'm talking about! Oh good! This is ...

Grocery shopping in Khao Takiab
What's in your opinion the best and the cheapest place to go grocery shopping near Khao Takiab? We are coming there with two small children and going to stay for a whole month and obviously we are not going to eat out every day. Also going to need to buy diapers and stuff. Thanks!

Re: A lot of BIG Jellyfish at the moment
Juice81, don't be put off by the above, it's a bit melodramatic. The beach will be cleaned up in a day or two if not already and the foam is definitely not 'toxic', just doesn't look too nice. Edit : It didn't stop many Thais enjoying themselves on the beach and in the water around 5 pm last night....

Re: A lot of BIG Jellyfish at the moment
So in other words the juntas clean up the beaches operation has done the thing that there's no more locals that clean the washed crap out in the morning before tourists come to the loungers?

Re: A lot of BIG Jellyfish at the moment
Oh swell, sounds even more promising! I was looking forward to a nice getaway mostly at the beach but now it's turning to a nightmare that is now looming for four months.

Re: A lot of BIG Jellyfish at the moment
So what you're saying, for example in Khao Takiab, we are not going to see the same old beach bars that rent also the sun bathing chairs and serve fod and drinks?? I really hope this is not the case...

Re: A lot of BIG Jellyfish at the moment
Yes, it's a shame - all of the now defunct beach bars used to carry the vinegar and some green leaf remedy. They've helped other members of my family many times (the little beasties never got me). Of course, they aren't there any more. [ Edit ] Not seeing so many washed up on my nightly beach walks...

Box jellyfish?
We are coming to Khao Takiab with two small children in february thru march and I'm a bit worried about the jellyfish. I heard there have been sightings of box jellyfish in Hua Hin a few months ago?? Is this true? Should we be worried? I understand that there are more jellies in autumn than spring? ...
