Unfortunately flying from Hua Hin to anywhere in the world is limited to kite boarding at the moment. Well, there is one charter flight to/from BKK but that's about it. Best way to make the trip between the Som Tam City and the Fishing Village is by flying to Bangkok and then proceeding your journey...

There's a cluster of guest houses about 1 km south from town. This area is near were people go kiteboarding.
For example Leng GH, Doodie GH, A&B GH. Around 800-1000 baht per night, I think.

At 24 I was still in the university studying for my M.Ed. After finishing my studies at 26 I came to Asia (China) for the first time and life was never the same. I went back to Finland for a year and taught in primary school. Then back to China and other countries in Asia. Again back to Finland as I...

Good to hear you had a good trip. When you have more time, you might tell us a little bit more of what you did and saw.

If you drive to Pranburi (or most other places) do it during the daytime. Actually, you only have to do the stretch between Khao Takiab and Khao Tao on the main road. If you turn to left around the km marker 13, you can take a small and quiet by-road which will take you past Haat Sai Noi and Milford...

If you come to Hua Hin, maybe we can all sit together over this topic. I have two daughters and might be interested in international school education for them. I'm also an educator, with M.Ed although I haven't taught for years.

Every Thursday, starting at 9 p.m. there's a Nordic Ballroom dance night at Grand Sport, in front of the Grand Hotel. Mainly Finnish and Swedish people attend it at the moment but everybody is welcome. You can take your own music there as well, if there's a special kind of dance you like to do.

Guess wrote I agree that none of them have anything to offer that we can not get already in Hua Hin. It's very difficult to get good quality beef here in HH. Hopefully the new establishment will change this. At the moment I "import" all my beef from Bangkok. In Hua Hin they end up in the m...

What I've been more worried is the similarity between the 20 Baht and 1,000 Baht notes. I sometimes wonder in the mornings how I've possible spend that much money the previous night. The only thing that comes to my mind is that I've given the motorbike taxi the 1K note instead of the 20. :cuss:

HH is about 250 km from the airport and about 220 from downtown Bangkok. Taxis cost about 2,000 baht one way. Since you coming in here for the first time, take a taxi. Trains are slow and most of them will leave in the afternoon or early evening. Taxi is also a good option if you don't have a hotel ...

One of the worst areas in downtown is the intersection leading to the public beach (it passes Sofitel). Sofitel itself shouldn't have big problems as it's on higher ground. It may be difficult to move around, though, if there's a lot of water in that particular intersection.
