Re: Bangkok Hospital: hope you have health insurance or plenty of cash
Although it might sound unfair to be critical, given the many Thai doctors who are excellent, I nevertheless have experienced a lack of good standards and procedures under Thai medical care, all of which have been in the expensive internationally accredited hospitals. At Bumrungrad hospital Sukhumvi...

Re: Pest control company
Out of interest, does Protex Pestcontrol Co. force you to pay for a one-year contract? I can't remember the name of the company I used some years ago but the 1-year contract that I ended up paying for was unnecessary, as it only took one visit to control the ant problem. The staff then sprayed almos...

Re: Annual Tessaban land tax
I beleive that they are asking for the ID of the Thai person that owns the land. Why else would they want it? Yes, I think you're probably correct Nereus. It seems to be getting more restrictive and authoritarian as time passes. It looks like I need to engage a lawyer to help, just to resolve this ...

Re: Annual Tessaban land tax
Thanks again. On the ID requirement, can it be anyone who goes along to pay and presents their ID? Can a foreigner go with his or her passport and do it?

Re: Annual Tessaban land tax
Thanks for the clarification, hhinner. Are you able to confirm if you believe those three items are obligatory, because a person who has read it for me, has claimed it says "for new payers only", to provide those three things. In past years, it always had 40 baht handwritten next to the ti...

Re: Annual Tessaban land tax
Yes, that's the thread I was reading. It doesn't sound like the same type of tax though. The tessabarn here has never requested payment of earlier years either, unlike the comments in the thread. The first invoice I ever received was in December 2012, which I paid in the January and again every year...

Re: Annual Tessaban land tax
Thanks Nereus, I was reading your past discussion on the tax issue, although it seemed that was a different type of tax in your discussion. Anyway, the document isn't much of a letter really, yes, more of a note stapled into the form of an envelope. I have copies of the past several years' and the c...

Re: Importing Sporting Equipment
I have been ordering goods frequently during the past few years. Firstly just for the benefit of any others rather than your case: Although most of my items have been sent via postal service (USPS which when gets handed to Thailand Post), I found that anything via the postal service in a large box o...

Re: Annual Tessaban land tax
Many thanks Bert, that's helpful. Are they all needed, or just one of those three items?
It's strange that the staff there today highlighted the third item (the chanote).

Annual Tessaban land tax
Has anyone else experienced difficulty paying the annual tessaban tax, where further information is asked for when making the payment? I have been paying this land tax of 40 baht since Jan-2013 when it was first implemented. I have never been entirely sure what it related to exactly. However, I beli...

Pipe and drain unblocking
I'm just posting this in case it assists anyone with a wastepipe or drain problem, as I noticed there was another thread on this requirement some time ago. This contact used a professional electric auger machine that unblocked a really difficult 2" drainage pipe that ran partly through an insid...

*Sold *Mazuma water purifier system 2 x 50-litre model S27, 100 psi, manganese filter
I have two Mazuma water purifiers with manganese filters, 50-litres each, stainless steel, which are about to be removed and becoming surplus to needs. They are used daily and working, though they are due for filter change. I'm not looking for much, any fair offer is fine. They will be available in ...

Re: Weakspot in Thai house design, concrete flange above lower roof tiles
Thanks for the ideas and yes, I agree the scrabbling around in the roof is horrible. From what you describe, there were more ways in which these pests were able to enter your place. In my case, I do not have drainpipes or guttering. I can see the rats in the garden sometimes, usually at 5 p.m., then...
