This is probably how locals reacted when entrepeneurs started building the third casino in Las Vegas. There is no way back guys. Whether we like it or not. Hua Hin and Cha-am will grow towards each other creating the second largest city in Thailand within a decade or two. That is my humble wild gues...

Well Dawn, did you notice that left claw? If you make the fox angry it certainly is able to crush something with that. :?

The rain is getting structural now. They even have a word for this phenomenon. They call it "rainy season". So the forecast for the coming months is: more rain.

10 Dollar note; got it easy

I remember Iomumart having some trouble lately in purchasing a 10 USD note (for Myamar visa run purposes). I got one without any hassle at the Krung Thai Bank for 346 Baht. Just to let you all know.

I bought a DVD/CD player there lately. They tried hard to convince me that my pick (1,990 Baht) was no good if I wanted to watch copy DVD's. It would only allow me to watch original DVD's. Since there were so many copies in Thailand I'd better buy a more expensive one (5,000 Baht) that would show co...

Excellent report from Iomuamart!! I could have written it myself. Agree with every bit. I have been down there for two weeks last April. Stayed at the Amsterdam Resort as well and it was brilliant. Certainly worth a visit since most expats have already been to the more obvious spots (Chiang Mai, Koh...

I would definitely stay away from the Thai Elite Card (even if I could afford one). You are not talking peanuts here. I assume that the card comes with some sort of contract i.e. terms and conditions. But my wild guess would be that even if there is any re-fund clause in there regarding non-performa...

I have been there and experienced no problems myself. Although I felt uncomfortable because I was warned at several different occasions by different expats who had been living there for many years and who tend to give me detailed instructions on how to act when robbed!! Also they advised me repeated...

Hi Jonnyt, I recently settled in Hua Hin due to new job overhere. I stay at Sport Villa. 8,000 Baht a month for one room apartment plus electricity/water bill (depending on how much you use the aircon I would say between 1,000 and 2,000 extra). The room has standard a TV with cable and hot water (ba...

Anyone for visatrip to Ranong next week?

Dear all,

I plan to go for a visa-extention to Ranong on Wednesday July 4th next by car. Anyone who wants to join and participate in the cost of petrol? If necessary July 2nd, 3rd or 5th is also possible.
I want to leave early (6.00 AM or so).

If interested please reply to this message.

Learning Thai in Hua Hin: any schools?

Any schools or institutions in Hua Hin that provide decent and affordable Thai language courses?

I am especially interested in learning reading and writing.

At present I consider myself being medium to advanced skilled in Thai language.

Classes must be held during evening hours.
