Re: Hua Hin Traffic Gridlock

On a lighter note, while all the other places are being knocked down on the road next to the railway the chicken place that is the biggest example of inconsiderate Bsngkokian parking is still open. Does anyone perchance know when it will shut and perhaps keep the Bangkok drivers on Petchkasem and aw...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

Which is why I am in no rush to get an EV. It is no surprise that massive advances will be made and they need time to prove themselves and the cost come down. I am happy to let those wanting to lead the fashion parade pay the initial (high) price. If I was in the market a PHEV as mentioned is the on...

Re: Hua Hin Then and Now Comparison

First moved to Hua Hin in 1991 and rented a house in what was then known as Soi Rai Noon, now Sarawat or 88. We were on the back soi and just the one restaurant on the main Soi. One of our neighbours was Frank and his wife who own(ed) Hua Hin Golf tours. The longest bar in Hua Hin was at Bernie’s in...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

Was at MV early over the weekend and there was a queue for the chargers. Until the infrastructure is in place I would only consider a hybrid but still I will wait as the technology is improving so rapidly. And prices falling too hopefully.

Re: Prachuabkirikhan: a different take on exotic culture

Adding to this rather old thread because I visited the Waghor aquarium today with my family who are visiting to escape from the Chiang Mai smog. I was impressed with the place as it was inexpensive and not the usual dual pricing ripoff. Information is in both Thai and English and it was not overcrow...

Re: Small print dooms Brits' travel insurance in Thailand

Getting good insurance is very difficult as the article highlights. Many people are not aware of the length of travel limitation and a particular one is where the journey started from. I have used world nomads in the past because I got the insurance while away from home. A minor point in regard to t...

Re: FB Brand Car Battery

How long do these powerbank jump start things last. They seem to cost around the same as a new battery. Seems like something else to forget to charge unless you leave it in the charge point.

It appears that, allegedly, obviously only gossip and unproven, the going rate for the cost of a vote is 1,000 Baht

Re: FB Brand Car Battery

Same here, around three years for a battery is the norm for cars and pickups. Sometimes using a smart charger can regenerate a battery but not usually for long. I had to change the battery in my Vios, Navara and now Terra after around three years in each case.

Re: How often to empty sewage tank

The toilet is a Cotto C126207 Mood to be precise, not a squat but a seated plinth type. I have bought two new floor seals (including the wax donuts in case that is the problem. The toilet is secured to floor mounts by two bolts (also in the kit ). At the back side of the plinth are some holes which ...

Re: How often to empty sewage tank

Thank you for the responses. I would change the subject to Drain flies and how often…. but not sure if I can do that. While I am suspecting a build quality issue I have not ruled out a person issue. I spend long periods at work when my wife and Thai family are in the house. I also have strong suspic...

Re: How often to empty sewage tank

I know they are breeding in the void between the floor and the bowl because I have one of those cameras for looking into small spaces and also by blocking off the openings in the back it vastly reduces the flies. I have new floor seals just in case and as Nereus says I want to inspect the possibilit...

Re: Thai National Service Warning

Thanks Big Boy for the warning. Both my sons who have dual nationality and are 30 or less will visit late April and while the conscription issue I understand was “sorted out” I will advise them to use their UK passports as they are here for less than 30 days. It will be interesting to see how many g...

How often to empty sewage tank

How often do you need to empty the sewage tanks based on two people living in the house. Standard Thai build but no idea how large the tank is. Just over two years since we bought the new build and sure it has not been emptied. I ask because apart from not getting a response from my Thai wife we hav...
