Re: Pros and Cons of Colonization

Thai was never colonized....555...big joke. They forget Japanese occupation..WWII About the past, the real reason of never been colonized is: Brits and French wanted to keep a buffer zone between them. Even if colonization was not always good, we must admit the benefits for colonized. The main rema...

Not at the end of town you want, but gourmet market in Bluport is only 5 minutes from Tesco and the 2nd villa market is near San Paulo hospital. I mention this as the two don't always have like for like goods at each store.
Great choice of food products, but you need deep pockets

Re: Pros and Cons of Colonization

Although I generally agree that the highway rules are much better observed in Malaysia than they are here, most of us will have observed farangs forgetting their rules of the road and go native once here - how many times do you see them driving without helmets or drink driving which they are unlikel...

Re: The Beer Thread

snowy.jpg Last time I was in Bangkok a few weeks ago I found this stuff which is apparently made by Singha. Snowy Weizen, its a great drop, slightly hoppy and far better than the chemical lagers you get here - cheap too at 55 baht a tin. Sadly it doesn't seem to be available in Hua Hin yet, none of...

Re: Registering a Marriage with The British Embassy

I got married in Cha Am back in 2010 and it was relatively easy to get the local Thai marriage certificate attested at the British Embassy in Bangkok, but of course in the intervening years they may have stopped providing this service. At the time I was working in the UAE and needed the attested cer...

Re: Grab Coming to Hua Hin

Checked today, sunday 1:30 pm Market Village to Cha-Am. 410 Baht, reported by the App. I took a ride on the bus. I'm sure a little old lady taxi would not be cheaper than 400 either for Cha-Am proper. Not an outrageous price. Agreed, a normal taxi would be 500 Baht, so the price is reasonable compa...

Re: Electric Cars

What about pick up trucks which are used for hauling loads, and 4WD SUV's that are used off road. Do current electric engines have enough torque for these jobs, and does any major manufacturer have this type of electric vehicle in the planning? I guess the same question could be asked concerning pa...

Re: Electric Cars

I just saw a show the other night showing that the Tesla, Nissan, Toyota are get 220-260km range in Europe, in pretty aggressive city and highway driving. This is not the pick-up, 4WD I was talking about above, just your normal electric sedans. Pete  The Jaguar iPace is a 4WD SUV that is cl...

Philip, you’re 96 years old, you’ve just had a hip operation, so please act your age and take off that silly camouflage and get yourself ready for the wedding.

We are still looking - till now not successful.

We are ready to start with planings... construction will start after rainseason 2021
You certainly like to plan well in advance - in 3.1/2 years some of the people doing business now might not be around towards the end of 2021

Re: Thailand's imported wine crackdown

I bought a 1.5l bottle of Australian red called Laughing Bird from Makro 2 days ago, it was a mixture of Cabernet and Merlot grapes and whilst not the best wine I have ever had, not bad for 469 Baht
