Re: Flight to Thailand bargains

Anyone flown with Jet Airways? They're currently the best deal from LHR to BKK, with 2 hours in Bombay. Eva is a bit more but is direct, checked skyscanner and there are loads of different prices for the same flight. Are the booking sites all the same or any to be avoided? Which dates are the trip?...

Not quite sure if you need a photo for this, (I think you do) but you should have one just in case.
A few years ago they could take your photo at (outside) Immigrations. Guess they still do but not sure. There's of course a small fee for the photo.

Re: New Hua Hin Immigration office at Bluport

For petes sake ... grab a motorcycle taxi (the dudes in the orange vests. On many corners ... they're everywhere). He'll take you to the Immigration office and if you ask he'll wait for you to finish your business then take you to where you are staying. Cheap! Not necessarily. Last time I took one ...

Re: Bringing Electronic cigarette to Thailand

Aftonbladet (http://www.aftonbladet.se/) is a major tabloid in Sweden. Maybe they read this forum because today they warn people that bringing electronic cigarettes to Thailand can result in ten years in prison. Article in Swedish: http://www.aftonbladet.se/resa/a/42j7V/turister-i-thailand-riskerar-...

Re: Dish Washers (Non-human)

I have a Bosch and cannot complain at all. Wife rinses the plates prior to loading them into the machine, which I feel is the right way to do. Right now in Sweden there's a TV commercial running from a dishwasher powder manufacturer that says that you don't have to rinse if using their dishwasher p...

Thanks again Ralfredo. Luckily I'm headed to the U.S. (not UK)
Sorry for that. More or less everyone here seems to be from the UK (slight exaggeration) so I lazily (is that a word?) took UK as an example. Anyway, good luck!

Re: How is "your area" denial of service done, technically?

Thanks Ralfredo.....I'm referring to what you said, yes, but I've been knocked off SlingBox, YouTubeTV and others, and I'm on a VPN, I thought they were supposed to protect my location but it doesn't seem that is true. In fact, if you go by IP address wouldn't they be assigned to the country where ...

Re: How is "your area" denial of service done, technically?

If IP address blocks are assigned by area how can you get around that with building your own machine? Where would you, or the manufacturer of some device get the IP number from then? Are you referring to my post? In that case the "own machine" would be located in the UK and get its IP from the UK I...

Re: How is "your area" denial of service done, technically?

If you still have some connections back in UK (friends/family/property) that have a decent Internet connection it's quite easy to set up an own/private VPN-service. Get hold on some old PC, install Linux and OpenVPN (for example) and you're good to go. The only extra cost is the electricity for the ...

rinse the heavy crud off first.
Yeap, chicken skeletons and fish heads are better removed before the plate enters the machine. :D

Re: Dish Washers (Non-human)

I've never seen a home use one that actually washes the dishes. They just sanitize after you wash by hand. Do you mean that dishwashers in Thailand in general have subpar quality? I have only used one in Thailand but I didn't notice any big difference to the machines we have here in Sweden. That is...

Re: rough idea of electricity costs ?

Just an opinion....if the pool is on an automatic timer I suggest you leave it that way. Pool owners will adjust timers to reflect the time they know the system should run to keep the pool clean and it dispense chlorine from any automatic system they have that operates in conjunction with the pump ...

Re: rough idea of electricity costs ?

Should I be safe if I have 300euros (11,500+ baht) put aside to cover the electricity? I definitely think you are safe. We usually rent a similar villa. Pay I high price per unit, use quite a lot of AC, run the laundry machine at least once each day, run the pool pump maybe eight hours each day, ha...
