Re: Iceland in Villa Market

Thanks, I'll take a look too. You may notice VM is usually pretty empty compared to other supermarkets. They have an excellent range of imported goods but it's the prices... :) I'm not sure they can be compared to other supermarkets in Hua Hin as their range of goods is generally different. I find ...

Iceland in Villa Market

I haven't seen this mentioned yet, or maybe I missed it? Anyway, earlier, I popped into VM by San Paulo hospital and much to my surprise they had two chest freezers full of goods from Iceland. For those that don't know, Iceland is a UK frozen food supermarket, that was always pretty good value. Some...

Re: "Minor" sports?

I don't care for any "team" sports. They always have one person who is given all the credit but rarely gives credit to the hard work of the rest of the "team". Whereas race drivers/riders always give credit to the team and sponsors. Why do people exaggerate? Team sports 'always' have one person who...

Re:

Very good. If you get time look at a video of Hurling, one of the All-Ireland Finals. You will be amazed. Incidentally the helmets they wear now have only been required since 2010, before then nobody wore them. I've seen Hurling loads of times on the telly. I like and watch lots of sport. You obvio...

I think the Pork Pies are the best I have had in Thailand.
I have to say that the best pork pie I have eaten in Thailand is one of these. From Central / TOPS.

Re:

I do not share your opinion! How many other sports have you tried, watched? Played: Football, rubgy, cricket, tennis, badminton, basketball, Squash / fives, golf, rounders, swimming, jogging / running. Watched live: Football at all levels, rubgy, rugby league, cricket (inc. WC in Oz 1992), tennis, ...

Re:

Popular game, not sport, because it is pushed down people throats all the time and has been turned into the new "opium for the masses". Do you realise how many people play football and have done for a couple of centuries? How there have been versions of the game played for long before the rules wer...

Buddhism in crisis?

Good article from the beeb's Jonathan Head - for which he'll probably be in trouble again - lol!

Mumbo jumbo, crooked monks and lucky amulets seems to sum it up nicely.

Re: Internet speed drop from exchange

I had no choice but to use 3bb fibre optic where I am as its the only provider. True and AIS said they would do at some stage. But it will have to be something special to make me change.

Re: New Hua Hin Immigration office at Bluport

There's a farang up in Korat who positively purrs when talking of how he slips 500 baht in his passport when passing it for examination, to 'ease the process'. Even though he qualifies for a visa extension. So I guess that's what they mean.

'Opening in March', then 'May' on the last visit I was told 'June'. Now 'August'!!
I'd say August is optimistic. I drove past two days ago and they haven't fitted all the windows yet, yet alone started on the inside.

Re: Pies in Hua Hin

I have a sausage roll and two steak and kidney pies (2 for the price of one) in the fridge that I picked up earlier from Andreanna's (on the right, not far down as you head for Takiap, having taken the turn off from Hua Hin). I've heard good things about them. These have all been consumed now and h...
