Hin Lek Fai in the late afternoon is a quick and easy trip. I get up there most days as part of my exercise routine, and the views are usually pretty good (when the air quality is). The biggest hazard is the macaques that will climb all over the cars so best to grab a Bolt.

Either way, its more fuel for the farang witch hunt. You'll have Batman and Robin (Anutin and Big Joke) all over the TV (where they spend way too much time), spouting off about the evil aliens and how they need to be controlled and curtailed. Expect more nationalism. "Phuket Governor Sophon Suw...

Re: Thai passport renewal ... 10 years?

One thing that isn't so good or efficient about renewing Thai passports is when it is for "children" which the government stipulates is up until the age of 20. BOTH parents have to be physically present at the passport office to renew even though they are considered as adults in the rest o...

Re: Campers, Camping and/or a Van?

That's pretty much how we roll; everything fits in the back of the truck. Total setup time is about half an hour, so doable even for an overnighter. The main advantage of a van would be that you could also camp/travel in the hot season and wet season which isn't so pleasant when in a tent!
